I'm not one to really complain a lot, esp in public- but I was just curious if other creators are curious like me if others are experiencing the same issues.
So, accepting cws has been incredibly slow over the last couple of weeks. I submitted 2 items not very far apart, and it took one 6 days to be accepted, while the other is STILL pending. I know sometimes this time of year there is backlog- but this is getting a bit ridiculous. One item I submitted on Oct. 3rd. It is still pending approval. This is the longest I have ever seen an item sit in queue to be accepted or denied especially when OTHER items are being accepted just fine. Two other items I have pending are more recent, so I'm being more patient about it, but still, I'm getting quite irritated over it and wondering what exactly is going on? Is the queue really that full? How many staff actually work on accepting cws? (Last I heard it was just one).
Is anyone else having to wait an extremely long time for acceptance or denials, or is it just me? (I know it's not, but still).
What is going on?? It'd be nice to get updated or be able to ask questions w/out feeling like we're being brushed off or given a blanket apology that doesn't actually resolve anything.
Just, a bit irritated and making me less inclined to submit more cws if it's going to take THIS long for me to get anything approved/denied.
side note: If you're just gona be a prick and tell me not to get my panties in a twist and be patient- save it. I've been BEING patient. Nothing wrong with wanting answers.
I believe it's still just and recently we got a quote from (I believe) about Jessi; LINK So it just sounds like she has her hands very full right now, which is unfortunate and hopefully staff can figure something out to make the process easier again C:
I personally don't feel like a week is a long time, but when you're really excited or trying to get something approved by a certain date I can totally understand this being a reasonable frustration for anyone, especially when you're paying for a service.
Hopefully someone on staff can come in and properly address this, or perhaps users can help brainstorm some ideas to help!
I think there's a lot of users that would be willing to help out if there was a way to do so. Volunteers or something, like mini-mods, you know? I know that sort of thing would require programming the site for allowing people to help in certain areas, but I think it might be useful to consider I guess.
I wondered if there was a message somewhere about it, I just didn't know where to check. 8I
I guess considering when things are going regularly when it gets 'upset' as it were, sometimes a week is a long time when you're not used to it taking so long. But yeah. Thanks for the link.
I noticed this too. I submitted a background over a week ago and it's still not approved or denied. -_- I just feel this is an abnormal amount of time to wait to hear anything. Normally it does not take this long. I wonder what's up.
I think quite a few people are definitely more than happy to volunteer their time but I'm not 100% sure about the laws on that. I've suggested to staff on that same thread I linked maybe looking into unpaid internships since people working with staff would be getting experience in the field but I'm honestly not sure about the legalities of the whole thing so I don't know if they can even do that. Plus, I'm also not sure what kind of standards of quality can be enforced with volunteer work either!
Hopefully something will get figured out though. Maybe a check box for 'Recolor' or 'New item' might help? Since I imagine a lot of recolors don't take long to approve (but again I don't know for SURE or anything, I could be wrong!)
It has happened to me too, but I understand that the staff is busy at the moment and I'm sure they're are doing their best C:
As to Mini-Mods accepting/denying CWs, I'm not very sure. That would require the Mini-Mods to have knowledge about art and Subeta's art style in order to accept or deny a CW, I believe. (I don't know if Mini-Mods' training include knowledge about Subeta's art style; if that's the case, then yes, I agree that Mini-Mods can help!)
I think that a "Recolor" and/or "New Item" button is a good idea, ! :D
[edit] Ooh okay!
Thanks for the updates and your hard work! :D I'm glad everything's cleaned up! :D
Same thing here. I've two CWs pending for more than one week...
Yes, that would definitely make the process easier!
@Cresenta I think from what I gathered on that other thread, is that Jessi is sick? Or was... so she's back logged by now I'm sure. Hopefully it's nothing too serious. 8( Tis the season for flu and colds.
Yeah, I nkow what you mean. I don't know the legalities of it either, but it would be nice to kinda know if it were possible. I think for the most part, some of the longer time cw creators would be the ones to look to for help in the approval process... shrug but it could just be too difficult to impliment as like you said, there's no way to really regulate that sort of thing and there's also no way to make sure users wouldn't play favorites (not... that it doesn't already seem to happen....) (just as I was typing this, my item that was in queue since the 3rd was approved xD) I like the idea of a recolor or new item button- tho I do know with some recolors- if you go from dark to light, sometimes the light recolors can be denied for looking flatter (guilty)- but if it could be in a separate queue to be looked at from new items, might make it faster/easier.
Oh, I didn't mean to say current MM's should do it, but was saying something in place /like/ a MM to help with approvals. =3 But, somehow I doubt it'll ever happen.
You know what might even possibly help is a crew of volunteers (veteran CW makers with say 50+ approved?) who can help go through and give notes on the items. Then those notes go to Jessi and perhaps make it easier for her to pick denial reasons? Maybe even only have the crew of volunteers able to check boxes of things to make it easier to go through the information. Like it could deliver a graph to Jessi; "4/5 users said the light source looks wrong" etc. IDK how hard that would be to code though, and again if this is an area they could accept volunteers for.
[edit] And by 50+ approved, I mean artists specifically.
@Cresenta
The custom item Serene Moon Kingdom Statuette has been approved, and one has been placed in your inventory!
CONGRATZ!!!! ^^
(and all) I'm sorry things slowed down recently! To make a long story short, we had some house troubles that prohibited us from being able to essentially use two of the three rooms in our apartment for several days. Everything is (finally!) all cleaned up and we even have new furniture so... a place to SIT to work, haha!
Catching up on everything right now 😄 I really do apologize for the delay!
(fwiw -- having people work on CWs on a 'volunteer basis' isn't really going to work because trust me... it's the type of job that someone might volunteer for for say, a day, and then immediately realize they made a mistake. It is a LOT of work, and not one that anyone should have to do for free 😄 I'm usually pretty good at keeping up with you all, as long as random disasters don't strike like they did this time!)
[edit] Deleted and reposted because I forgot to hit that darn "Official post" button, grrr. Also to mention my CW Minis have my cell phone number now in case we need to check in with each other and they have to let you guys know why there might be a delay :)
Keep doing the good job and thank you for the update! ❤
- Ah that would explain it! Thanks for letting me know. My item actually just got onsite so yay for that! ^_^
- D'aww thank you! <3 I'm so happy to finally have it in my wardrobe!
- Oh god that sucks. :( Glad things are ok again for now. Thanks for letting us know what was up and why there was a delay. We really appreciate it!
@Cresenta I'm just sorry it took so long! Sometimes when I'm overly busy and stressed I have NO concept of time! So I was like "Oh it's only been a day or two oh wait it's been like 4 or 5 you idiot". SIGH! Oh well :) New things in place for myself to hopefully avoid it in the future!
Nah I can imagine. It's like that for everyone when things go awry. I'm sure you didn't mean to make us wait. ^_^ Hope things stay smooth for ya from now on! Best of luck!
Oh to answer something I saw earlier from I believe!! You are correct that a lot of times recolors are a LOT easier to accept! Not ALL the time (sometimes something looks great in a dark color and gets submitted in a light color and it's like "Oh... yeah no") but that is why my recent post about grammar / etc when uploading is SO IMPORTANT! There are times where I get back from a long shift at the clinic and clock in just to quickly accept recolors before bed just to help the queue -- but if they need me to edit the name and description massively after acceptance, they have to wait until I have more than 10 minutes of time! It REALLY makes a huge difference when these things are uploaded correctly the first time :) Just food for thought!
Funny enough, the first time I clicked on your link, it took me to the wrong forum entirely. 8I I was like "wait, what?" It took me to ">this thread. Not sure what happened there, but the reping was correct. Anyways, sorry you had to go through that, but glad it got all fixed. that's why i didn't want to get all angry, but was just like "Um, what's going on?". I've in the past, had a bad habit of assuming the worst and then it just gets me in trouble, so I tried to be polite about it and was just curious if it was just me or what lol.
As a side note- I think you underestimate the willingness of people that would actually love to help out- even if to lessen your load. You may feel that because it's such a burden on you, that others wouldn't be willing to make that burden lighter. Just saying- don't dismiss the idea of volunteers simply because you don't think they'd /actually/ do it willingly. True, perhaps 'for free' wouldn't be totally accurate... maybe a little compensation like gold accounts, csc or cs items... I dunno. lol. (Hell, I think I'd help out once a week for some sP, or WL items xD).
Just cuz I think you'd be one that would be willing to help if given the chance.
Let's be honest if given the option, I'd just live in the queue all day and try to be helpful =P Aint got anything better to do. haha.
/but what if volunteering for lowered submission costs on cws/ mind explodes
I wonder if it's because I deleted the post, so the original link just spat you out somewhere random? XD Either way, glad the reping worked!
The big thing I learned many years ago is that even non-cash payments (in CSC, items, etc) has to be filed for taxes by Subeta as a company, so that sort of thing can hurt the site's bottom line. Also it isn't as simple as just having volunteers to look at the queue. You have to have access to admin groups that regular users can't/shouldn't see, be in touch with artists and UAs in case things need to be fixed, etc -- it's a LOT more work than just looking at and accepting/denying items! I'm not dismissing the willingness of people that would want to volunteer to help - just that it is truly not a volunteer-only job, which I know from personal experience!
Yeah, makes sense it just was like "this link doesn't work now, so ... RANDOM" lol.
Also, I didn't know that you had to claim stuff on taxes for giving away stuff like that! Wow, the more you know. That makes more sense as to why it wouldn't be something that could be done so easily. I figured it'd take a bit of coding, but I didn't realize it's far more complicated than that. Still... too bad. If it was possible, I know you'd have ppl willing to help.
lol. For sure. I can just picture you, no sleep, staring at the queue. and lol! lowering submission costs for helping the queue would be sweet.
If only... xD; Darn legalities.
