US presidential election takes place about a month from today and there's been the first of both the presidential and vp debates on tv.

I'm curious... How do you follow the election season? Do you follow it? What do you do? Any traditions or rituals you do? What will you be doing election results night?

There's obviously no right or wrong answer. I'm just curious as to what you do! Doing nothing is also an answer. xD

As for myself, I'm going to be watching the presidential debates, but most of the time, I end up watching SNL skits, because they're hilarious (otherwise, not a big fan of SNL anymore, but they seem to kick it up a notch come election season). It's going to be tough following the results given I'm not in the US, but I hope I have the morning off euro timezone wise to follow it. c: Also, popcorn is niiiiiice. Aww yiss.

(Also, the lovely and I have come up with a forum group to try to rejuvenate the forums, so if you want to be pinged to new topics like these, join us and post away to help revive the boards. n___n)

Canadians here. I've been watching and following them from the corner of my eye since we are talking about it at school (we literally have a whole commune wall with media entries, report, pictures of Clinton and Trump). I've nicknamed Trump Crispy Chicken Hair and Clinton is Sour Grandma (disclaimer: I have my opinion and you have yours. Don't slam me for my idea while I respect yours ty).

Still waiting for Michelle Obama campain n___n Politic is too bland and abrasive nowadays. They aren't talking about what matters the most (same for my motherland lol).

Well, that's very States-y of y'all. c: ahahahaha they both sound irresistible then (sour grandma makes me think of sour candies) xD

Yeah, I wonder why Michelle didn't run. Her approval rating must be above Obama's, right?

I thought Trudeau was Canada's IT man though. ;O

for me, i only registered to vote at all because of bernie. and in and of itself, because of my ideology, that was a mistake to begin with. to put it simply i believe in anarchist communism/kropotkinism, and it has never been a plan for me to be persuaded into thinking we can "fix the system from within," but rather a complete dismantlement of what is in place. now i stand by that, clear headed again, thankfully. damn you, bernie! :( i will not be voting this year or ever, most likely. i'd say the best i can do is support local candidates, but as of right now, north carolina doesn't have much to offer on that route. as far as i know.

I miss Bernie. He was the only candidate I had any respect for. Everybody else running is a lunatic. I wish Michelle Obama was running. Or Joe Biden. I'd be glad to vote for Uncle Joe. Right now I'm only voting for Hillary because the thought of Trump becoming president is terrifying.

OOh, nice! Congrats! :D I wonder what the polling gap would have been with Bernie v Donald

I feel like the way everything is set up, fixing from within sounds like a colossal undertaking and is less likely to work. The only issue is how to do a complete dismantlement? The first thing that comes in my head is the Russian Revolution, and while I understand why they were upset, I'm like please let's not do that lol. D8

It sucks when you wanna do something and contribute and it seems to always be lesser of two evils. D: /sigh

If Michelle was running, I'd wonder what they'd dig up to tarnish her. I mean from what the media always says about her, she does no wrong. xD Maybe she will consider running in the future? :3

I worry the Donald will win because people are so angry at the establishment, they'll vote for the outsider. Or they're angry at Hillary. Or they are simply curious what a Trump presidency would look like and have nothing to lose. I know it's a separate subject but I know people who voted for Brexit to happen just because they were curious what would happen. No other reason. And I'm like whaaaaaaat. I don't think that's a legitimate excuse. I'd rather someone say I vote for this because I believe in their policies, etc. even if I don't personally agree with them, because at least they thought it through. Curiosity? UM. No.

The following opinions are my own and are not meant to enflame/piss off/irritate/etc. If you are a fan of Trump, you may not want to read the following. You are hereby warned and I take no fault or consequence from your reaction.

I honestly feel sick to my stomach when I see/hear Trump. He's a vile, disgusting excuse for a human being and I have absofuckinglutely no clue how anyone could vote for him. I really don't get it. Are they that brainwashed? Do they not know how to think for themselves? Do they have absolutely no respect for their fellow human beings in regards to immigration, gay rights, etc. etc. etc.?? I can't wrap my mind around it. At all. I'm not saying Hillary's a saint, but she at least has intelligence and respect, and no one's perfect. She's owned up to her mistakes and has the grace and presence of mind to apologize. Not to mention she can put together a logical sentence and actually answer questions with real answers.

Another thing I don't get is third party candidates. I mean, I would be all for the Green Party, being an conservationist/environmentalist. But I know they don't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning. So what's the point of running if all you're really going to do is take votes away from someone who can defeat the candidate you really hate? I really like Jill Stein and I would probably vote for her if I thought she had a chance of winning, but I'm a logical human being and I won't throw my vote away like that. I feel like voting third party is basically taking votes away from Hillary and giving a vote to Trump and I just can't do that.

Honestly, I just wish Bernie were still in the running. Barring that, for my birthday on November 6th, all I want is Hillary for president. I'm terrified of what will happen if Trump gets in. Honestly and completely terrified.

well, the "how" may or may not be appropriate discussion for subeta :x honestly. but when people tell me that any effort or fruit from this mindset would never work in practice, my response is typically that nothing has failed more grossly than capitalism and this two party system and everything that comes along with this authoritarian state of america. another point is that any attempt at dismantlement elsewhere hasn't worked.. is because the US has done anything in it's power to make sure it's wiped out. but this is a long, complicated discussion in the long run, and i'm sore sure it'd be wise to go into details because this is a very controversial subject. as for the candidates, who we are dealing with right now are both war mongers, no matter what they say. trump is a vile, unpatriotic, bigoted excuse for a human soul. hillary just has a higher body count. i second everything you say about trump.

I have become too disgusted with the whole campaign to give a damn anymore. Bernie seemed like the most genuine one that was running, even if I didn't agree with him all the way.

Just these 2 monstrosities now, this has got to be the most humiliating thing to happen to this country. Like we have come to this point. I can't complain if I don't vote, and voting for a third party is "wasting your vote". So I will have to hold my nose and vote for Hilary. Because really, Trump, oh hell no!

I can't believe the latest crap they found coming out of his mouth and tbh I'm surprised no one aired it sooner. :x

Also I totes agree about 3rd party candidates. Jill Stein, ilu, but no. At 2% national I don't know why these people even bother. :x Like does she actually spend money on campaigning? I get the principle in trying, but come on son, let's be real.

/nods in agreement I understand and I agree. ;O;

ahahaha I don't see why not :"D

I feel like it's a freak show. I don't even know what to expect for the 2nd debate this weekend. :x

As for voting, I like to research the candidates before I make a decision. The presidential candidates though... I found masks of the main two at Party City.

I'm from Canada and I haven't been following anything about the US elections. The US got stuck with two horrible people and the way I see it, one of them is going to win.

I do hate Trump. He's so crude.
