Good evening, students! We do hope you enjoyed Founders Month. While we wait for the last of the Slytherin activities to finish up, I wanted to take a moment to remind you that while we are divided into different Houses, we should all stand united. We are students and faculty of one of the greatest schools of witchcraft and wizardry in the world. The founders of the school, despite their differences, came together to unite and pass on their knowledge for the better of their next generation and the generations to come!
I'd also like to take this time to introduce a new activity called In-Words!
To play In-Words, the rules are thus: Each set of letters below contains three words commonly found in the Wizarding world. The letters of the three words are adjacent, but not in order/scrambled. Find the letters and rearrange them to spell the first word. Remove those letters and imagine that the remaining letters are now consecutive. Using those letters, find another set of letters that when rearranged spell another word. Remove them from the set, then the remaining letters should be used to create the third word. There should be no letters left at the end. It's a turducken, but for Word Scrambles!
Example:
ELSRNYILEWVFUHEFPFUFLARANCTH
From FUHEFPFUFL, you can create HUFFLEPUFF. This leaves ELSRNYILEWVARANCTH. From EWVARANC, you can create RAVENCLAW. This leaves ELSRNYILTH. From ELSRNYILTH, you can create SLYTHERIN.
So the answers for this set would be HUFFLEPUFF, RAVENCLAW, and SLYTHERIN.
In the future, there will not be a theme for this challenge. However, since we are celebrating House Unity, the sets below will exclude words that are specific to any one house and may be words that describe the school/students/faculty as a whole. There are 3 sets of letters below for you to unscramble.
Each correct set of words will earn you 5 points for a total of 15 House Points maximum! You must get all 3 words in the set correct to earn points for the set.
All answers should be sMailed to Mary.
Now, onto the sets!
(OOC: I tried to the best of my ability to explain the activity, but if you feel like you are still unsure how to play, please feel free to ask! This is a very new activity and I am taking this opportunity to gauge how all of you do with it to see if we will continue using it. :))
This is a pretty creative activity, -- and bound to be a bit of a challenge!
The way some people spell makes me wonder about their pronunciation. My CW shop, and my ping group
I do think this one is quite the challenge!
While I don't think a theme overall is needed, I think I would like this better if the three words within a puzzle were somewhat related to each other rather than seeming random. Although maybe they were intended to be related and my brain didn't make the connection, or maybe it's more of a challenge this way?
I just know that I kept looking for related words after I found a word in a puzzle and I found it difficult to look for another random word when my brain was trying to match it up with the first word.
But I like challenges, so I can see this being fun (fun in the incredibly frustrating sense, kind of) going forward!
After I actually finished the puzzles..
Haha, ok so the one that did have the mini-theme like I was talking about above I had the worst time with!! But I think that was me making a mistake - I took one extra letter away from the last word I was trying to figure out, which made it way more difficult than it probably should have been!

thanks for the feedback! This is really helpful.
For the second one, when I take out the obvious word in the middle, I'm left with all consonants at the beginning... how do you form a word with no vowels? Or am I missing something?
EDIT: OHHH nevermind, I understand now, you have to combine what's left after you take out the first word. I was very confused for a while there.
Man, this is really difficult though, imo. The first one was easy but I have NO clue about the third, and I can't find anything after the first word in the second. Hm

🦋
stares I think I did it ok...your directions were good it just took a bit to get there...thats what happens when you do them upon waking up! :P

You guys are killing me with this! I figured the first but still struggling with the other two. 😨 Goes back to it
I'm actually a bit confused with the example - you took FUHEFPFUFL right from the middle. Does that mean that the first word is always hidden in the middle? I mean, not exactly in the middle, but can I assume that the words are somehow seperated from each other in the set or is 'STOSKWLOERYOOBGH' for example completely scrambled? As the example words were pretty obvious and lined up so fine. xD
the letters for the first word will always be adjacent to each other. So for this example I won't scramble the letters so it's easier to see:
bgreredenlue
You take out "red"
bgreenlue
You take out "green"
blue
This...was hard....the last one, really hard. It was nice that some of the words my brain kind of formed on their own, but I cant imagine doing this without a theme. Overall, I liked the new challenge to my brain, so its a love/hate thing :)

Thank you very much, I guess I've got it now. C: But as it's late, I'll send it later so I can have a relaxed look at the words again, just to be sure. xd
Could you post the answers after this one is over? I've given up figuring it out, I really want to know what it was!
