Good afternoon, all! It's now the last week of Founders Month, and we're finishing off the month with Salazar Slytherin. It's common knowledge that Slytherin could talk to snakes, and this trait coupled with the long running history of dark wizards having been sorted in to Slytherin House often creates the image that Salazar Slytherin had been an undoubtedly dark wizard. However, what if Slytherin had been able to talk to BUTTERFLIES instead of snakes? It changes his image a bit, does it not?
This week's theme is Communication with Animal-kind.
Your challenge this week is to create a human avatar depicting a witch or wizard being able to communicate with one species of animal (minus snakes). Whether you choose to use your character or a depiction of Salazar Slytherin is up to you!
Some rules for this challenge: 1.) You MUST include the animal in your avatar. 2.) You must come up with a name for your gift. 3.) Please do NOT use any snakes!
Each member may only submit one avatar, and each avatar to successfully adhere to the challenge rules and theme will be awarded 10 House Points!
This challenge will end on Wednesday, September 28th at 11:59PM.

One day in the beginning of spring Gwenyfar was out walking around the edge of the forest when a fox ran up to her and started following her. This fox was larger than a ‘normal’ fox and seemed to like being around Gwen. He nuzzled her hand for some pets and when Gwen sat down under a tree to read, he cuddled up right next to her. He came and saw her every day after that – Gwen loved seeing him and thought it would be nice to talk to him. She started looking around in the library for a way that she might just be able to do this. After looking for a while she found a potion that allow her the ability of Vulpesdicere (Fox Talk); it looked difficult but she was determined. She gathered the ingredients (having to send away for some) and started brewing the potion. During the long months of waiting Gwen still visited with the fox every day. Eventually when the leaves started to turn red the Potion was ready. After putting the potion in a cup she drank it down and ran down to the forest to see her fox.
“I did it!! Hello there Mr. Fox!!” Gwen was out of breath but never more happy.
The fox jumped up into her arms,“Well hello finally!!”

Garrett loves all sorts of felines, and would want to be able to speak to them all, big and small. He believes that a title for their language, worthy of their grand majesty, would be called "Eloquentia Felidaeis"

Despite werewolves being relatively closely related to dogs, Paddy was most disappointed to not be able to talk with them. She called the ability Caninversation and really loved the idea of chatting to dogs in the Hogwarts grounds of an evening.

Unable was she to understand the high screeches of her friends in the Astronomy Tower, but it never stopped her from speaking her mind with them. She always wondered if they could understand her. They were, after all, one of few creatures rumored to see one's "true potential" (whatever that was). Lyn Hale, Gryffindor

Since she was a small child, Starling has possessed the ability to speak with horses. As magical folk are often not very familiar with muggle terms, Starling finds their name for her ability quite humorous: Neighsayer.
Whoops forgot to say Slytherin hehe
