I mostly understand the rules for boss prizes, but as I was trying to explain them to someone else I got hung up on one point:
I understand what happens if both the T9 and T11 pets in the example qualify for top-in-tier prizes, but what if only the T9 did? Say you battled for hours on your T9 and got the highest damage in that tier, and then threw in 1-2 battles on your T11. Would it look only at your T11's score, so you don't receive any top-in-tier prizes at all? Or is it looking at the highest tier pet that qualifies for top-in-tier prizes, in which case you would earn those prizes?

i think it's probably based on pets that qualify for the top-in-tier prize. so if your t9 and t11 pet both qualify, you'd only get rewarded for the t11. but if your t9 pet qualifies and your t11 doesn't, i would imagine you would be rewarded for the pet that does qualify. i couldn't say for sure, but i doubt it would even be feasible to ignore/discount a qualifying pet just because one of your higher-tier pets also battled but didn't qualify.
- That's kind of what I was thinking, but the wording makes it sound like you could easily sabotage yourself and miss out on prizes you've rightfully earned. It's kind of weird. 😕

I think it's worded that way so that people know how exactly the top (whatever) goes? Like if your T11 is and they award the top 10, and your T9 is out of 10, that way it's clear from the start that the T9 prize will be awarded to -4 and -11. Rather than saying "you'll only get one," but then the users don't understand how it's decided which pet actually won the thing/whether or not the top 11th pet should get a prize in that tier.
...if that makes sense? Basically I agree that it probably only counts your qualifying pets.
Also I know they are doing prizes for top however many in overall damage as well as top in each tier. Both of those are going to be measured in damage done against only one of the bosses, right?
There's not going to be anything for overall damage across all three bosses?
That's what I got from the news post, but I just want to be sure I understood correctly.
I've read over it four or five times now and I'm still not exactly sure about how they are going to hand out the top tier prizes but I think I've got it figured out.
It appears the highest tier thing is only applicable for top-in-the-tier prizes. At least that's what I got from the text I've quoted below.
No, there will not be any prizes given for overall damage across all three.
