That moment when you aspire to be a social worker with damp and clammy sweaty hands but you need to handshake a lot :c (ps: sorry to the person I've pinged by mistake while attempting to do a smiley)
I've always had sweaty palms. It's not because of stress (altough it feeds the void too). As I'm typing away right now, my hands are a tiny bit damp. Like why am I plagued with hyperhydrosis?? During my internship, it had been absolute hell to hide the fact that my hands were sweaty. I often had to wash my hands in a hurry, use sanitizer or simply embrace the fact that I have sweaty palms. I even have dry hands and I need to apply lotion (and lotion keep the moisture ha ha haaa).
Tell me I'm not alone in this mess.
Yikes, that's not fun to have to deal with, I'm sure. Then again, I bet no one will ever notice/care as much as you do yourself. I get horrible anxiety sweats sometimes myself, which is really annoying too. I wish I had some handy (er...no pun intended) advice but alas, I have only empathy :(!

I JUST SAW THIS WHILE RANDOMLY CRUISING DA FORUMS girl, story of my life =____= you are definitely not alone
I read like 1% of the general population has it to some degree? but like it's not talked about because people hide and a good chunk of the rest are either grossed out or don't really understand
it's an orphan condition, rip T__T
I read it's about faulty ion channels coded by your genes, a good portion of it is genetic; a few people in my fam have it :x also, botox supposedly helps but rip my monies no way I'm trying that lol and there's also iontophoresis treatments but haven't personally tried them out yet
one doc told me to do a sympathectomy (not legal in all countries, was legal in the country I was staying in) buuuuuut cutting off nerve supply to a certain part of the body meant your body had a chance to overcompensate in another part and I'd be damned if I had compensatory sweating in my groins lmao plus surgery risks and costs nty
as you can tell I know a lot about this shit
I told my friends once about it and you wanna know her reaction? "What's the big deal?" gee, thank you for your understanding :"D then when another noticed, her reaction: "ewwww did you know your hands are so sweaty??" NO I DID NOT KNOW but thank you for enlightening me :"D
in grade school I thought I found someone with the same problem but I was too ashamed to ask them because of reactions I had gotten when I did speak up
my job involves me putting on gloves and they are a PAIN to put on and you know when you start to notice the sweat your brain goes into stressed out mode and it becomes worse?? yeaaaaaah that happened initially but I've learned to not give a fuck if it takes me longer to put on gloves because this is who I am, I can't change my DNA, so after 20 odd effing years I have learned to accept my sweating body and to accept myself and no longer do the self-pity ritual when I go to a store and can't buy certain materials or colors of clothes, it's all very second nature instinctual avoidance of such things that I no longer have to ask or tell myself why am I avoiding silks, chiffon, lace, colored shirts etc. (thank god for winter amirite go sweaters O aw yiss -- let me tell you, growing up in a tropical climate was fucking brutal, man, it exacerbated my sweating by 100000% and I could only wear white tees :x)
yeah so many feels over this know that you're not alone big hugs
omg I wrote so much omggggg also to anyone reading who might be in a similar predicament, feel free to rant to meeeeeee, we can commiserate over our orphaned condition lol
CRIESS Haaaaaa
I had to do an interview with a first year two weeks ago and I had to advertise myself likeso: Hi I'm Tsie and I have sweaty palms and I would understand if you wish to no shake my hands. [INSERT VERY BIG GRIN IN HOPE OF NOT CREATING AWKWARD MOMENT] it failed.
I could see the disgust in her eyes lmao. - but I offered you the option dude, don't blame me. I even applie sanitizer 1 minutes before she arrived and to no avail ;____; One of my college pal has the same issue and whenever she needs to shake hands, she just blow on them or try to no hold anything to let the air circulate freely on her palm ha ha.
But I'm always /or mostly a sweaty mess. I can be cold af but have sweaty armpits xD
The struggle is real u__u
I try wiping my hands on material that soaks them in like jeans. 8D but boy oh boy at least you tried lightening the mood and making a joke of it? :C I'm sorry that person doesn't get it.
Your hand is still pretty moist and hot when the person is about to grab it. I've tried applying deo on my palms but it was disgusting. I also blow on them right before and seems like it lasts for 1 minute tops.
Oh I think I know about that deo. It caused burning and stinging pain and I still sweated through it. It was horrible. :s I know, I know. I try to do that just before shaking someone's hand. Then again, I rarely have to shake hands. /blessed 8D I wish Madonna style gloves were in and professional haha.
I need to shake hands otherwise it looks sketchy and impolite/snob. It doesn't help that I'm also a germaphobe. But really, people do not understand the struggle. I mean: IT'S WATER. LITERALLY.
that's because they don't want to understand because it's "gross" D: I mean it's not snot amirite
I used to get sweaty palms and now I don't. Maybe there's some kind of anti antiperspirant you can rub on your hands? Like, the ones the DR prescribes because you can't get them over the shelf. I have a perspiration issue. My arm pits are always wet and I always smell. I have to carry deodarant in my purse and I never wear colours where you can see sweat stains (but lately I've been buying colours where you can see sweat because I just don't care).
omg i dont get sweaty palms but i just get sweaty in general....especially at my job since its in food service so we're always by hot espresso machines/ovens and im like, drenched
I have this issue. It's pretty bad, my friend calls me squid hands. Really nice. It's not just my palms though, though they're the worst, it's my whole body. Inside my elbows and back of my knees sweats so hard in the winter. It's terrible! My friend linked me to this antisweat lotion that you can use on your hands but I haven't tried it yet? So I dunno if it works or not..
It happens to me too. These antisweat lotions are nice until it leaves your skin dry, itchy and cracked. I used to rub some on my hands but it was hurting me way too much. I just ... put up with my squid body I guess?
