It's my first one. I'm bricking it to be honest... I know what happens/how it works etc, but I'm still worried about the super strong magnets and everything. It's tomorrow night so I have almost 24hours still to worry about it. It's pretty weird that my appointment is at night (7pm). If it was early in the morning I could just get it over and done with, but....

Has anyone on here had an MRI before?

I have not had an MRI before but my boyfriend has had a few (he has MS). I wasn't with him for them but he said once you see the machine and relax a little then it isn't so bad. You just have to lay perfectly still and (honestly that'd be the thing that would stress me out the most! Lol) close your eyes if the movement kinda wigs you out.

That's good to know! Same here tbh, I have an illness which causes me to fidget a lot so hopefully I'll be able to keep it under control :o

They're not that bad, really. A little loud, but that's pretty normal. I was able to stand the two I've had even with an anxiety condition. I think the most important thing is to remember to take all of your piercings out and let the tech know if you have any implants (metal pins, braces, etc.) in your body. If you don't have any implants or anything of the like though, it should go fairly smoothly.

Thanks for the reassurance. I have anxiety too :( hopefully I will be fine! I don't have any implants or anything, but I'm still worried about the magnets all the same just in case..... Mental health sucks :(

There are some therapies that actually use strong magnets to take impurities out of one's system. So I don't think magnets are harmful at all, at least not for the amount of time you'd be there. You'd have to be exposed to the magnets for hours at a time, day after day, month after month, for anything even minor to happen.

Oh that's good to know, I didn't know that at all! I'll have to do some research on that, it's pretty interesting.

I've had plenty of MRI's done due to having a ruptured disk in my back. When I get one done, I take out all of my body jewelry (ears and navel) and change into a hospital gown. They have you lay down and usually put headphones on you with music playing because the MRI is very loud. You lie very still and focus on the music if you're claustrophobic, which I am. It's done in like 5-10 minutes. =D
