Hello, all! It's a very exciting time for Quidditch this year. The British and Irish League is looking to add a few new teams to their lineup. They're looking for some fresh, creative new mascots as well! I can't wait to see what the new teams will be.
It's time for another Group Activity! It's time to work together with your housemates as a team to come up with the best and most creative Quidditch team you can.
Each House team is to come up with up to 7 Human Avatars--3 chasers, 2 beaters, 1 keeper and 1 seeker--to be used in The British and Irish League!
Threads have been created in your respective house forum groups for you to discuss your strategy! Please keep all discussion for this activity on those threads. Once your team has decided on their final 7 avatars to submit for the challenge, one representative from your house may then post them here. We would prefer a Prefect post the final product, however another spokesperson may be chosen if necessary.
Some rules for this challenge: 1.) No Hogwarts robes. 2.) Please do NOT post on this thread for discussion. Only final products please! 3.) Please give each of the avatars you submit a name. 4.) You may give your avatars character backgrounds if you choose, however please keep them to one sentence each. 5.) You must also give your team a name and a mascot. Please do not use any team names or mascots that are already canon Quidditch teams! 6.) The avatars should be in team uniform--this means coming up with a color scheme for your team. 7.) Please keep in mind that this is for Quidditch teams based in Ireland and the United Kingdom. Please do not base your team in any other country. 8.) The more creative the mascot, the better! We're really hoping we don't see a bunch of teams using run of the mill mascots like tigers!
Each team may submit up to 7 avatars (you may submit less, but it is in your best interest to submit 7!), and each avatar to successfully adhere to the rules and theme shall be awarded 10 points each for a maximum of 70 points!
In addition, we will also be ranking the submissions! The house that ranks will receive an additional 40 points. Rank will receive an additional 30 points. Rank will receive an additional 10 points. The house that ranks will not receive any additional points.
This challenge will end on Wednesday, August 31st at 8:00PM Subeta time.
(NOTE: if you need to be added to your house forum group, let either me, one of the other admins, or one of the Prefects know! If you have any questions, please ask on your respective discussion threads and PING ME or leave me a comment.)
Seeker: Rhona Blair A Scottish native, Rhona is known for her tricksy nature and aerial acrobats. Beaters: Deryn Tyndall Coming from Wales, Deryn inherited the welsh warrior attitude, and although she looks sweet, her bludgers can hit quite precisely. Amber Armstrong Although she enchants her hair black, the natural redhead's fire shows through in her personality; be careful what you say because you will get a bludger to the face Chasers: Lachlan Neissman Very superstitious and believes he is lucky since he always evades being hit by a Bludger. Corvus Davenport A rather quiet and reserved nature, Corvus is able to fly almost soundless to surprise the opponent. Bernice "The Falcon" Appleby Once afraid of heights but confronted her fear to play Quidditch, now she seems fearless and is very fast. Team Mascot: Al-mi'raj Team Colors Represent: Charcoal/Black for the city's nickname, The Grey City or The Granite City, and the mascot's horn. Yellow/Golden for the mascot's fur: the Al-mi'raj, and the golden beaches of Aberdeen Blue for Scotland's flag, the ocean on the shores of the city of Aberdeen, and it also surrounds the island that the Almiraj came from. Ravenclaw entry
Posting for Ravenclaw, I present you:

The Belfast Bludgeoners from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Their colors are Gold & Copper and their mascot is a Snidget!
Chasers

Captain Aodh MacCarrick Aodh means fire and it never fitted him better than on the pitch; the two beads in his goatee were given to him by his grandmother before his first match which he won, from now on they are his lucky charm.

Siana Bennett From a pureblood and posh family, Siana became a professionnal Quidditch player without their blessing, so every win is a victory over what they have said about her.

Zuri Lawrence Zuri is a strong headed and independant Afro-Irish young woman who can be bold and rebellious at times but would do anything for the team and her mates.
Beaters

Daffyd Davies Daffyd hails from Wales and yes, he really does like to rhyme all the time.

Eileen Brannigan Eileen started wearing the helmet after taking one too many Bludgers to the head (the Bludgers always seem to knock off her goggles as well so she keeps a back-up and a back-up back-up pair at the ready)!
Keeper

Moira Kavanagh Moira grew up in Northern Ireland and is a homegrown fan of the Bludgeoners - she is immensely proud to be able to play for her favourite childhood team!
Seeker

Min O'Keefe Rumored to be part Pixiu (a winged lion-like creature that enjoys eating gold and silver); it is thought that this heritage aids Min in quickly spotting and catching the golden snitch.

Hufflepuff Entry

The Mascot HA was included due to not having anyone draw a mascot. None of us really understood this was what we were supposed to do. Personally when I think Mascot, I think of how I see people on the field of a game dressed up as something and came up with the Badger mascot on her own so I included it.
If this disqualifies us, I completely understand. I just wanted to give a reason as to why we didn't have a drawn Mascot image.

| Arthen Watersfield, Chaser

| Nia Pryce, Chaser

Heralded for the unerring accuracy of her Finbourgh Flick, the fraternal twin of Perl Pryce.
| Perl Pryce, Beater

Perl Pryce is known for her calm but intense nature, and is also a celebrated archer.
| Beatrice "Thunder" Bottomley, Beater

Beatrice is known for her insurpassable strength, and is nicknamed by the distinct sound of her bat on the pitch.
| Eilir Evans, Seeker

Eilir is Welsh for "butterfly" and that sums up Eilir's flying skills, especially her ability to weave between the opposing team despite her relatively ancient 'lucky' broomstick.
Team Name
LLAN - FAIR - PWLL - GWYN - GYLL - GO - GER - YCH - WYRN - DROB - WLL - LLAN - TY - SILIO - GO - GO - GOCH
LLAN - To start off with, pronounce this section as you would do the Scottish word "clan". LL is kind of pronounced HL, which is quite hard to achieve.
FAIR - Simply pronounce this section as "fire", (not like you would expect to pronounce the word "fair" in english!) and change the "f" for a "v".
PWLL - Now you have been practising your "ll" sound this will be a little easier to explain. The "pw" section is pronounced like the "pu" in the english word "put". Now add the "ll" on the end as described above.
GWYN - You may have heard the Welsh name "Gwyn", well this is pronounced in exactly the same way. Just say "win" and put a "g" in front of it.
GYLL - This is a bit more tricky. First say the "gil" (as associated with fish!"). Then change the "l" (as in "let") to "ll" as explained above.
GO - Looks easy doesn't it - it is! Pronounce it as you would the "go" in "gone"
GER - Simply say the word "care" but change the "c" for a "g".
YCH - Like the pronunciation of "ll", this is another tricky section to explain. Think of something you don't like and say "yuck". Now take the "y" from the beginning to leave "uck". Now change the "ck" to "ch" as pronounced in the Scottish word "loch".
WYRN - This looks more complicated that it is. Just say the english word "win".
DROB - First say the english word "draw" and then add a "b" on the end. Easy.
WLL - You've learnt this already. It's pronounced the same as "pwll" above but without the "p".
LLAN - Again, this is exactly the same as the "llan" at the beginning of this section.
TY - Simply pronounce this section as you would the "t" in "twig". SILIO - Just say "silly - o". The "o" is pronounced as in "cot".
GO - As above.
GO - As above.
GOCH - We're almost there. Simply say "go" as above, put the "ch" after it and that's it! Put it all together and keep on practising.
Team Description
The green and white home kit is a tribute to the ever-loyal Leek Legion--the tenacious fans and supporters of this league. The red and white away kit is themed around the red and white dragons who battled over Wales, with the red dragon emerging victorious, freeing Wales from the white dragon's icy hold.

Glad to see everyone has their entries in! I'm going to close this up while we decide on the rankings. Well done, everyone!!
Hi all! We've deliberated the rankings for this challenge and man, it was a tough call!
Each of the teams have earned 70 points along with the bonus points for the rankings. ALL teams have earned bonus points since everyone brought their A game and the bonus points have been changed a little.
We've agreed on the following rankings:
1st: Slytherin - 50 bonus points 2nd: Gryffindor - 40 bonus points 3rd: Ravenclaw - 30 bonus points 4th: Hufflepuff - 20 bonus points
Congratulations all!! You did great work. :)
[edit]JUST FYI in case anyone was wondering - Gryffindor's ranking was based on their green uniforms ONLY. We did not take the red one into consideration.
