So last night I decided I'd spend some of the money I made at our garage sale this year on the Prismacolor markers (set of 12) that I've been pining over. Went online to see which store had them the cheapest. Hobby Lobby wanted $79.99. I wtf'd at that. The set I had years ago that finally died, I only paid about $25 for. So I look at Michaels - $56.95. Better, but still, wtf. They're excellent markers, but DAMN. So I decide to try the office supply stores. Staples wanted $49.99. Almost went for that, but decided to check the rest just in case. Office Depot had them for $39.99! So I grab my keys and run out the door. Got there and decided I'd try to get them cheaper because you know, every dollar. So I'm flirting with the cashier, looking down at my phone and being sad that I 'couldn't find my coupon' and he's like, oh I'll just give you this 20% off coupon we have here. So I got my markers for about $33. SO HAPPY.

But that's not even the awesome part. When I was walking in to work this morning, I saw some paper under my car and when I bent down to pick it up...it was $25 folded up. I was like STARE HOLY SHIT. I've had it in my bag all day just in case someone calls/comes in to claim it, and I'll give it to them if they do. But there's quite a few buildings/offices around here so it could have come from anywhere. If no one claims it by the end of the day, IT'S MINE AND I'M BUYING ANOTHER SET OF MARKERS WITH IT.

Way to go!

We use OD at work when we buy all supplies the office needs. Used to have Staples, but OD gave us a better offer and so far they've been great. Never used them privately though.

Ooh, I remember those book-buying days. It's ridiculous how expensive they are. Can you rent them where you are? Or buy used? Those options helped me a lot.

Ugggghhh I feel like SUCH AN IDIOT for spending like $75 on my Prismacolor markers now lol. My teacher and classmates strongly suggested I buy them for my art project since I didn't know how to use Photoshop at the time and wanted to use the same medium on each project (it was like 12 different art pieces but all had to have the same theme. I ultimately made a Dinosaur themed calendar LOL). But the thing was I was just a senior in high school taking Art as a fun and relaxing elective, like dang, why do I need to spend top dollar on markers for high school bahaha.

I remember being upset because some of the colors I needed the most dried out by the time I finished my second piece. Surely that was bad luck right? I think I just bought some single Prismacolor markers after that. I just remember them smelling absolutely awful and my classmates outside of Art often asked me if I ever got high off them whenever I worked on my projects during homeroom lol.

Congrats on being super thrifty and becoming $25 richer though. Did you end up getting another set of markers??

I didn't get my second set yet, but I'm going to. I want the manga set because it has a few skin tones in it and some other lighter colors. I'll hopefully find it for a decent price online.

- Ah that is great xD Lucky you! I bought mine at Michaels as well, years ago and they are getting pretty close to dying.
