I often suffer from 'mage rage'. Sadly it is pretty random (not sure there is a set ratio?) but annoying none the less :(
@ Helly
My record was over 50 amulets turned in without getting a tome. Can't remember the exact number. People who turn in hundreds at a time claim it evens out to 1 in 6 but that hasn't been my experience.
yeah... every time i head there with my 6 amulets i'm like "okay let's see this 1 in 6 thing" and i end up just wasting 1.8m every single time... completely not worth it :(
But it does seem like people turning in a lot of amulets at a time are favored over those turning in a few here and there. I'm not sure if there's an easy way to adjust that so you don't have to turn in hundreds of amulets for the ratio to actually be noticeable.
I'm one of the gives hundred at a time turner inners, and I track my in and outs. I am in no doubt Tome rate is close to one in six/one in seven. I have gotten this repeatedly. I hang out here in Help & Questions a lot, and the majority of complaints/questions about this are from folks who have turned in just a few.
My best guess is that Subeta's random number generators are IMO sucky and 'get stuck'. Or the Mage gets in moods based on the time of day and turning in a lot of amulets passes through from one whim to the other. I think this is so especially for the Element Mage because looking at them one by one from the times when I tracked that way instead of just input/output, the Tomes do fall in clusters. My weak suggestion is to wait until you've got a whole mess of them, and then turn in hoping to get on the 'good side' or the 'unbroken side' of the odds.
I usually give him hundreds at a time as well.
Normally my rate was always 1:7, but I have had a 1:3 rate before. It very well could just be random, but sometimes you might just get 4-5 tomes in a row, or turn in 30 for nothing.
Yeah it's better to turn in a lot of amulets at a time to even your odds out. The last time I turned like 300+ in my rate at the end was 1 in 5.7 so I got a little bit lucky there. Also just a sidenote, amulet prices are kept very high at the moment - you shouldn't buy them for more than 300k if you want to turn them in for a profit. Don't forget to do Quentin's quests everyday and store their amulets as well until you want to turn them in.
its easy to say its bad to turn in small amounts when only considering people who turn in 20 and get nothing and not the ones who turn in 3 and get 3. whether you turn in one at a time or 6k at a time, it does average out. I've turned in thousands and got 1 in 6.5 and just a few days ago turned in 2.2k and got 1 in 5.7. But it does come down to the law of large numbers and eventually it converges to 1 in 6.
Yep it's much like lottery. A game cam say one in 10 wins. However just because you buy a string of 10 its not a promise of any prize. You might lose the cash, you might win 4 prizes.
FINALLY GOT THE 15K WARDROBE DONE!!!!! Next up gutting and selling it.
