I'm looking to adopt a pet to fill my new pet slot from Adopt R Us if possible, just because I notice there are a lot of pets there that never get adopted! My question is: is it possible to get a free chance to rename a pet that you've adopted from the pound? Or would you still have to go the normal route of either name exchange or paying 500 CSC for a rename? I have no problem with creating a new pet if need be (I already have a name and species in mind), but if renaming a poorly named adopted pet that happens to already be the species I want is an option, then I'll take it.
i don't know for sure, but i'd bet none of the pets up for adoption right now come with free renames. as far as i know, the only ones that get a free rename are pets from inactive accounts whose names were taken (i.e., widowmaker_459), and those would only show up in the adoption center if the inactive user abandoned them, which is possible but unlikely. (last month there was an influx of speciesnameIDNUMBER pets cleared by staff, but afaik they did not come with free renames.)
I see! There's only one pet of the species I want there so it seems pretty unlikely that it would happen to get a free rename. I'll just go the creation route then! Thanks for the help c:
yeah, unless you're after a particular date or id, creation is probably best, haha. glad i could help! uwu
Normally there aren't many pets in there at all. Don't feel too bad.
In the past if the Adopt R Us gets too full staff has been known to color some of the poor abandoned pets up with nice colors to make them more enticing. The only reason there are so many is that they're giving those of us who like certain earlier adoption dates or specific petnumbers a chance to have these pets. Since these pets are desirable (just not by you) it's not likely these will get a recolor anytime soon, in my opinion.
A free rename is something really unlikely.
That's really nice to know, actually! I'm still a fairly new user (first subeta birthday in a couple of weeks!!) and since I don't have a lot of pet slots or money for buying them, I'm pretty choosy about my pets. A couple of my pets aren't the best because it took me a while to get the hang of it, but nowadays I don't make a pet unless I have a solid concept in mind. I'm glad that others make good use of the adoption center, though!
