hi guys :) so I've been thinking - is there a certain length of pet story that people enjoy more than others? Most of my pets have considerably long stories, and I know most people probably think they're too long and move along, but is there a certain length of story that's more intriguing than others? Do you like short and sweet stories, or do you like something with a bit more depth? I'm really interested in knowing what most people think in regards to pet story length. :)
- I feel like you guys would be good people to ask lol <3

I personally prefer longer stories. I enjoy learning about characters and what's happened to them, and how they came to be the individuals they are. I like being immersed in whatever world the character lives in, and seeing how they live on a regular basis.
Shorter stories are nice too when more in-depth character information is available by some other means. I just like really in-depth things myself.
I tend to prefer shorter stories personally, but I'll read a longer story if I find it interesting enough though.
That said, I tend to write shorter stories for my own pets personally.
all of my stories are usually really long but it's funny because I don't tend to like reading long stories for other people's pets. If the person has a good story I will read the whole thing no matter how long it is! ...but a lot of times I don't give them a chance. D: I don't tend to read the longer looking ones because I don't want to read something with bad context, grammar, spelling, tenses, ect. The worst for me are fanpets that are so specific I can't understand what the story is actually about because the writer assumes everyone knows the character, storyline, or world. It ruins the story for me because I'm constantly wondering what's going on or mentally correcting grammar instead of being immersed in the story. Sometimes it's frustrating because I feel like it's really up to the writer to have it edited but for some reason people skip that part. BUT the ones that are well-written I give major props to! Overall, if a story is short there's an 80% chance I"ll read it, if it's longer.. probably about 20%.
Sometimes short and sweet works well, but other times, long and in-depth works too. I write the length that I feel conveys what I need for that particular pet. One of my oldest pets has had her story rewritten 4 different times and still not happy with it :/
It really depends on what kind of story it is. I usually just follow where the idea leads me to, and the story can be as short or as long as it needs to be.

As long as its interesting, I don't really care either way. I usually don't read pet stories period, but if it starts off interesting I'll stay and read it. Medium length tends to be my favorite though. Not too short, not too long.
If a story is so short that nothing happens, or its just boring/pointless because its teeny tiny, I might be tricked into reading it but I wouldn't be happy about it, haha. Short isn't always better!
If a story is crazy long, I might not finish reading it even if its interesting. It really just depends on my mood.
recently i've found my groove in short summarizing backstories and breaking them apart into like ~300 word sections i don't really feel like spilling every single in depth character detail for pet pages haha so the short gist of things works fine for me
when it comes to other people's pets tho, i dont care too much about the length; it really just depends on how much the story sucks me in
Have to agree with some above comments.. I don't mind reading short or long stories as long as there is a reason for it all. (IE, it's short and too the point, or it's long and detailed and eventually gets to the point haha). My own stories tend to vary in length, it really depends on the character. Some are super developed and have longer stories while others are more short blurbs I wanted to have fun with and do cutesy things with!
lol totally agree with this - I don't notice grammatical problems all the time in other people's work but if I do it just kinda makes me sad lol
but in general I'm glad to hear that - for the most part - the content of the story has the biggest impact I do wanna try to start making my stories more mediumish instead of like 3k words tho lol

I feel you, my last one was 7k words. no one wants to read THAT MUCH lol! i get to the point where i'm like, maybe i should just get a publisher if I'm going to do this much typing xD
it depends on the story. If its good and sucks me in I'm always down for reading the whole lot no matter how long.
I don't like stories that end too ambigously though because I want enough information that I can come up with my own happily ever after (or not) as the case may be.
If I have claimed a Dance from you and do not immediately Dance I will get back to you.
