what's wrong with the adoption center? why are all these weird pet names in there? =/ for example: kumos1239847123
Adopt R Us is working properly. SubetaTeam have re-named some already existing pets whose names violated the rules and then placed them there to be adopted on purpose.
ah okay, so the users eventually dumped the pets in the adoption center... :p
nothing's wrong with it, those are just a bunch of pets that were cleared due to having inappropriate/rule-breaking names. their names were then changed to (species)(pet ID) format and placed in the pound so that people interested in them for their IDs or birthdays could adopt them, instead of those IDs and birthdays being lost into the ether forever.
??? Other users did not put those pets in the Adopt R Us.
oh, I thought that users created those pets which violated the rules, because they saw the name change they dumped them in the adoption center.
no, staff cleared the pets, removed them from the offending accounts, changed the names to these placeholders, then dumped them all in the pound. a few months ago i remember searching some of those names out of curiosity to see if such names would be deleted, and was surprised to see that they hadn't been. however, all those pets were listed as 'owner: user not found' meaning they had been removed from their accounts. then just recently the names were cleared (i searched the names again and they are no longer there) and placed in the pound.
You...need an example of the kinds of names that are so inappropriate that the pets are removed from a user's account, even though in some cases posting those names also violates the community guidelines in forums? :P I don't know all of them, not nearly; however, I know of two of them that were cleared, and suffice to say, they were incredibly graphic, inappropriate, and rude - not the kind of words proper people use too often.
