The price just went up steadily because there've been monthly new outfits and monthly new battle challengers, I guess. Or maybe the missing free offers had something to do with it as well.
The price is somewhat steady around 9.5M, those are just currently sold out. Give it a day or two and you can buy them for that price again. I bought CSC yesterday and there were like 20 for that price, someone must have just mass bought them. There might be more CSC in the trades, but watch out for overpriced deals.
I don't think the price can go down easily anymore, not unless there's a wave of earnable CSC. But it helps the site you know, so I doubt that's going to really happen.
There is nothing that can be done about it anymore. It's not going to go down, especially not to as low as 4M/100 CSC.
The issue happened long ago - when quests gave upwards of 10M a day. It's no longer the case, but the damage is done and the excess of SP in the economy isn't going away.
It's called "Subeta's sole source of income and every chance of any other merc for has been shot down as being too preposterous an idea to work in the long run."

its just my opinion, but besides the sP issue, i think the strong USD makes buying CSC via other real-life currencies more expensive. also there might be less people commited to Subeta now - users were teens or in college when they started and now they've sadly grown out of it.
if i recall, prices also took a 3m hike around last Black Friday when the market was flooded with CS items. Keith did try to pump a bit of CSC into the market via the free shop, downtime rewards and things that, but it only slowed down the price spike if anything.
also yoooo to the slowing CW market??? too many releases, not enough buyers, and waaaay too much drama. though theres currently a discussion board trying to address this issue. might take a look some time at that.
theres a lot of factors that im truly sorry about (especially since i used to sell art and i dont even dare try now) but this cant really change. im glad that the staff is revamping so much of the old stuff and trying their best to introduce better sP items, but it only goes so far. we are probably just gonna have to adapt.

this happens every year around black friday - csc prices double because everything is half off, then they never really go back down. two years ago you could get 100 csc for 2.5-3 mil sP. black friday comes around, suddenly it's 5-6 mil sP for 100 csc. that price slowly begins settling over the course of the next year down to ~4 mil sP, but of course another black friday, another skyrocket, this time to 8-9 mil sP, where prices have hovered since. i can only imagine that this november, it will happen again.
The charms were a catastrophe and i don't blame Subeta for not doing something like that again.
Nor should they, my entire point was that it was a one off thing, decided never to be done again and now the site suffers for it.

The bad decision that was taken isn't the lack of merchandise, but the lack of a currency for custom wearables alone, which should have been established off the bat.
No, I meant there should be more than one way to fund Subeta besides CSC and driving said CSC up by CWs. I feel like I'm not articulating myself well today.

Like what? I'm pretty interested in what you are talking about.
Like, physical products didn't work out so well for Neopets, judging from how much stuff ended up being overpriced and not bought. There are so many sunk costs with physical merchandise
And yet the cw market is dying and has slowed down quite a bit. Staff said that they wouldn't touch the ratio nor the whole economy touching the CSC/sP ratio rate. It's their primary source of income and it works so wth cater to everyone if the "wheel is working".
it's about as easy to earn the sp for csc via quests now as it was a year ago. the problem isn't the high price of csc, its the low value of sp, there just needs to be some long term effective sp sinks and it would slow, but not stop the inflation of csc and various items. the obvious question is, what do we do for sinks, and no one knows really. although it was said a while ago there'd be a shop till tax introduced when sebastian phoenix tax random has retired, but we've got completely overhauled shops now and no sp sink to go with it. granted users would have been even more upset with a tax alongside the limits but everyone's gotten over the latter already for the most part.
