I have decided to start playing again after a fairly long hiatus and I am loving some of the changes. But I do have a question. There are some items that used to be worth a small fortune that are fairly common now. What's up with that?

When items become too scarce chances are they will release more of them from time to time via different means so that they have a little more in circulation. Does not happen with all items but they tend to do this with most from time to time.

Well, for example, The Book of Death was expensive, but now it's not. The Encyclopedia of Squishyness (I think) was as well.

I think Quentin gives out the Book of Death pretty often from their quests. The Encyclopedia of Squishyness is R99 which are given out sometimes from things like the Lizard Minion REs

Same thing happened to me, I just returned a couple weeks ago after a bit away. Murder 101 used to be worth in the millions, and now it's only a couple thousand if I'm not mistaken. It does take some getting used to. But welcome back.
