it's something along the lines of how many forumposts you have... I don't remember the stages, but I'm pretty sure 5 stars is 3,000 posts.

There is information about the stars in the Frequently Asked Questions & Answers sticky topic here in the Help board that also includes a list of how many posts you need to gain each title, and how many stars go along with it. ;)
