Pardon me if this has been suggested before! I noticed that the Battle Shop currently has leeches for strength, defense, health, and speed. I currently have a pet that is Level 1020 but only has Tier 2 stats. Training this pet through the Training Center is a huge drain on sP, so I rely on the egg boosters you get from winning 5 times against the lower tier challengers.

I would very much like to see this happen. Level is the most frustrating part of training and having a means to reduce it would be wonderful.

I get a lot of "unintentional" level increases, from Oracle Quests and scratchcards and REs, so I'd be into this.

I've been out of the loop in this respect -- do you happen to know why staff keeps shooting this suggestion down?

I just don't think they like the idea. I don't know why though, it's not like you can reduce your level really low and keep training. probably to not promote boosting so much but at a certain point, training from the center is very negligible so who cares if you boost or not.

I'd enjoy and use this, as far-fetched as it might be.

There IS an item that does this, but it's really more of a collector's item.

I agree - there's really no reason why we shouldn't have this... Boosting already raises your stats so you're always going to have a minimum level for training anyway. Plus, there are plenty of boosters that don't raise your level, so I'm not really seeing the point of that argument.

I think that there should be a chance to 'do over' for those of us who didn't quite understand early on the implications of rapidly over-training your pet on level. Perhaps there could be a way to 'buy down' level points other then level-leaches. Perhaps a mechanism similar to spending CSC on automatic training. After all, maybe the reason level-leaches has not been seen favorably was the potential drain of CSC revenue from those users who use auto-training.

Yes please. I'm tired of getting so many levels from tomes and stuff, even if I can just take off about 10-15 for now I'd be happy.

Fully support despite it being unlikely.

Can't we have one level leech worth extremely hard or impossible battle tokens or ...something?? :/

I see this is listed as frequently asked for. Just today I was working on some of my pets to reach level 50. The goal was to reach level 50, max their stats to that level, and stop there. Sadly at level 49, sent it to train, and bam. You gained 2 levels! Yeah no.... that is the OPPOSITE of what I was going for. And of course there doesn't seem any way to remove this 1 level, that ruins my even numbers. And sure, I could train it further, but these are my extra pets. I already have several working up higher. And even then, the next goal would need to be 100 because seeing any other number would irk me. And knowing my luck, oh look, it leveled to 101! If I can sink some SP into just removing 1 level, I'd be ever so gracious. Yes I'm being picky about numbers. It just looks so wrong, and I wish I could fix this!

I'd support this too. I'm one of those perfectionists who would like to get all stats even across the board, but my pets also have jobs and that randomly gives levels whether I want it to or not. Plus, as said, sometimes the bonus makes you overshoot your desired goal.

I'm going to apologize for necromancing this thread but since it was linked from the "frequently requested thread" it's probably fair game?

Perhaps instead of/in addition to level leech items a level reduction feature could be added to the Cleansing Pools for a small or no fee, since pet level affects the cost of training and it can balloon out of control if you don't know what you're doing when you first start training a pet. It's a really easy mistake to make when you're new to the game and don't know what you're doing, since it's not explicitly mentioned anywhere on the pet training gym page that higher pet levels mean increased training costs (not even the beginner battle guide nor the in-depth battle guide mention the training cost being linked to level, now that I've taken a look at it). I wouldn't mind paying to level down a pet in, say, level increments of 10 perhaps.

While the level disparity isn't as drastic as OP's (level 1020 with tier 2 stats, ouch), I adopted a pet from the pound somewhat recently that was level 81 while their stats were in the 70-80 range, so they cost as much or more to train than actual tier 3 pets that I'm also training right now. Being able to tamp their level down to something more in line with their stats would be super nice because it'd be a shame to consider their training a lost cause due to the level, as getting their training up to speed with their level would take a while and cost a lot more than it realistically should.

Just wanted to get my thoughts out on this and didn't want to make a potentially redundant thread. XD If the necromancy is a problem, I apologize!

cuddles Meet Wrain. I don't train Wrain. In fact, I haven't for a really long time. Not since he was level 740. Honestly, Wrain will probably never have a training session again. Most of the stat gains he's had since then are bought from experience points earned in the battle center. He's now level 800, purely through random events, Oracle quests, and the Job Center. Other unwanted stat gains can be reversed using leeches if a player wants to, but here's 60 unwanted stats I can do nothing about that came from normal game play, and there will surely be more given.

I'm not trying to game the training center because at tier 12 it's kind of past its usefulness, considering time and cost vs. the 26k experience this pet gets daily from Battle Quests. I just want to be able to control this particular stat because I think it would be fun for aesthetic and character building reasons.

(actually... I might have stopped training at level 720, because I think it was 1800 stats even when I stopped training and started doing Battle Quests with him. Making it 80 random levels gained since then.)
