Go to a food item in your inventory and there will be an option to feed it to any of your pets. The item will disappear if you do this.

's advice on the Rathskeller Inn is perhaps not too useful to you, because in order to get there you would need to complete an Uncharted Land Map and these can be pricey for a new player.

I'm also pretty sure the Rathskeller Inn didn't start out amusing your pets when it was first created, but does now. I'm gonna test this to see if this has changed or if I'm wrong by taking a Minion off one of my pets and registering there.

Also when I go to get free food I'm told I have enough to feed myself. Where can I get food for my pet when she's back from the Inn?

if you have more than a certain amount of sP (i'm not sure what the cutoff is) then you are not eligible to receive free food. you can always purchase food from the main shops, or from user shops, but it's not really necessary because it's easier and cheaper to simply keep your pets in the resort or the inn.

I don't know where your 'there' is from context. Are you talking about either hotel? Most users here use those site features all the time; nobody will think you bad for using them.

I placed my pet Waccasassa in Rathskeller about ten hours ago, and she's still just as happy without her minion Okeechobee. Usually happiness and hunger decrease on the hour or so, so I'm pretty sure now that the Rathskeller does help with pet happiness.

If you do quests, and I recommend that you do, they will sometimes drop food as rewards. This is a bonus source of food. You can sell the expensive food in your shop, and store the cheap stuff in your Vault for when you take your pet out. While feeding your pets is not necessary unless you want to battle, some people just like to feed their pets and some like to accumulate different foods fed for Achievement.
