Whenever you take something now, the items all vanish until 5 minutes has passed. Did anyone notice when this was put into place? I thought it was my Kindle acting up until I got my laptop back and it's the same.
And I'm kinda curious as to why it was made like this. I'm sure there's a reason for it but I don't know what it is myself. Is it so people don't 'stalk' an item until their wait time is up or something? But if it's really worth waiting five minutes for, isn't there a good chance someone would have grabbed it before anyway? This might not be the reason at all, so I could be barking up completely the wrong tree here.
Keith briefly mentioned that the donation corner causes significant problems (meaning lag) ">here and it was changed shortly afterwards. I assume preventing people from being able to refresh the DC while waiting for their timer to end has helped a lot.
I for one definitely noticed a lot of lag when people mass-dumped items into the DC after the shop/gallery changes.
Of course you can. You're just not as likely to refresh constantly for new items if you can't see them.
You can F5 all you want, but you're not pulling from the list of items in the DC every time you do it until the timer is up. It seems like that would definitely help with lag.
Also, your siggy link brings me to my own shops instead of your shop, and it's against the rules to ask people for sP anyway. "Do NOT beg for sP or items. This includes asking to be item/gift bombed."
That's because it's an old shop that doesn't work anymore. I put that link in about three years ago and this is literally the first time anyone has ever mentioned it (and it's gone now, anyway). Probably because it's clearly a joke. Like 'please give to this feed an orphan fund' except with 8 foot supersoldiers. I wasn't asking for people to give me anything, anyway; they'd have to buy an item first for me to get any sP.
Any I see people with links to their shops, wishlists, and items they're buying all the time?
People do post in advertising and stuff, but you were asking people to "give generously". No worries, just wondered about it.
Kinda sucks at first but then I realized that the only reason I was refreshing the items while waiting is because I'm competing with other people. If no one else can see the items while they're waiting too, I guess it doesn't matter as much. And If I don't know what item is there because I can't refresh and look, if someone else takes it first... Well I can't be disappointed about what I didn't know was there in the first place. If this change helps reduce lag then I'm happy for it.
I like being able to hunt for the next thing I want to pick up while I wait for the timer to run out, but since nobody else can look either and it cuts down on lag I guess it's fine.
Pretty much this, a bit disappointing that it's had to be changed this way, but whatever I'll deal.

I don't frequent the DC, but I checked it out because of this board. My bigger concern is how there are 24k items in there yet you can refresh 20 times and see almost nothing different.
This has always been my biggest issue with the donation corner. Its even worse when you refresh and half the items it shows you are the same item. I have even had it one time where 3 refreshes in a row presented each page with nothing but the same item.
I like the change, now im not complused to keep looking and getting my hopes up, and if it helps cut down on lag im all for it as well.
I didn't like it at first, because like others have already said, I like to load several pages at time to pick out something I want while waiting. But its a minor thing and I'm already fine with the change.
