After 10 years, I finally graduated from college today. It's been a long and difficult road but I finally picked a major and stuck with it. I have always loved history but I didn't want to study it because I didn't know what to do with it, I went the practical routes: Respiratory Care, Paramedic, Nursing. But I had enough at the community college I was attending and decided to transfer to a four year college. The first year there, I was a medical technology major but I wasn't happy. I finally gave in and changed to history. Two years later, I now have a Bachelor of Arts in History. I really want to go to grad school and study Russian History but I'm not sure what to do but I'll figure it out
WOO! CONGRADULATIONS! History is one of my favorite subjects, that's awesome you picked something you are passionate about. I envy you, because I'm in the middle of my first year in CC.
Thank you! I'm so proud of myself.
Good luck with your college.
Congratulations ! History is so important for us all to learn. I hope your knowledge and your passion takes you to great places in life!

Thank you very much. It's never too late. I was in college for 10 years and I'm still not 100% sure. I'm going to take the GRE when I have some extra money to see how I will do. If I do well, I'll apply to grad schools
Congratulations!!!
Congrats! That's a huge accomplishment. I love history, it's one of my favorite things to read.

I'm glad you switched to something that you're passionate about. If you enjoy your work, then you're good at it, and if you're good at your work, then you'll always be able to find employment somewhere.
Congratulations, Tardis! :)

Congrats! As a fellow recent grad with an impractical degree (BA in East Asian Studies) I feel your worries lol. If a so-called practical field makes you miserable, it's not worth it!
That's great! Good for you. I still haven't stuck with a major. I dropped out of my teaching degree. Decided I couldn't deal with it.

Major congrats to you! I just graduated college in mid-May as well! Job hunting is so exhausting though. How is that going?
Glad to hear that you ended up choosing something that you really like, though. Finding a job is tough, but at least you're going to enjoy it when something comes around!
Thank you!
Thanks! Good luck finding a field you like. It took me a long time to decide.
Thank you! And Congrats to you! Job hunt isn't going well. How is it for you? There's just no jobs where I live and there are 4 major colleges in the state as well as a community college and they all just graduated the same time I did. I'm also looking into grad schools, which is confusing and tiring as well. I want to get out of Delaware but grad school and cost of living is so expensive .
I've done a ton of applying and have finally heard from a company. I have a phone interview with them on Monday. I've applied from my top picks to smaller ones I've never heard of. This company is one of my top 3 so I'm pretty hopeful things go smoothly.
I think what has helped is that I did two follow ups with this company. The online application didn't submit and I kept getting a proxy server error so I e-mailed my resume instead. I did a follow up about a week later. Then I reattempted to submit the application this past Wednesday and it worked that time. I sent the same lady an e-mail and she replied yesterday requesting a phone interview. I think being aggressive about it has shown that I'm interested. I felt like I was being such a bother but several people recommended doing so and that may have helped substantially for me. It may help you out too!
The thought of grad school is just exhausting to me right now, lol. I figured if a company wants me to go for my masters, I would consider doing it, especially if they offer to pay for my schooling. And I was just in college for 5 years. Kudos to you haha.
I haven't heard back from any. I need two resumes. One for a history related job and another for everything else I apply for.
Good luck with your interview! What did you get your undergrad in? It's hard for a History degree to find a job with an bachelors.
