Has anyone played it? I guess some long-time players think the company is getting greedy, but I didn't actually know this game existed until I saw a YouTuber plugging the card game.
Any thoughts?

I tried it and frankly I suck not good at lying...

I don't find the lying quite as difficult as figuring out the motives of other players. I've had a lot of frustrating games.

Hey! Hello! I'm so glad to have stumbled upon a thread about this, because I love this game with all my heart. I don't think I consider it my favourite, but it's certainly up there as one I enjoy playing with my friends. This is going to be a huge mess and mostly me plugging the game, haha!
Feel free to add me on there. My username is the same as here.
I basically play Town of Salem five nights of the week, multiple times during those nights. I typically play it in a Skype call with a couple of friends. Skype calls are frowned upon, but not against the rules, I recently learned. As long as you're not spoiling the game or using the Skype call to your advantage. (Though if you visit someone on a full moon and they're the werewolf, you do tend to throw your hands up and go "GREAT, _____ IS THE WEREWOLF".)
The quality of the game relies on a few things: the people you're playing with and the role that you get. The people that you're playing with are especially important though. Medium can be a boring role if everyone leaves once they die, but it can be incredibly useful if everyone plays properly. The quality of the discussion also plays a huge part. I hate spammers and unnecessary roleplayers. Just play the game! Haha!
And then there are the roles. My favourites, personally, are witch and veteran. I always have scrolls for them equipped. I've also been told that I'm a very good mayor and have won the game multiple times by using my votes and the knowledge I'm given well. Transporter is also handy and I've seen people win a two-person game as transporter.
As for the whole "the developers are getting greedy" noise, I think it's ridiculous. I don't think that the art style is very good and I think that there are already plenty of versions of this game out there, but I think the developers have every right to try and get a profit from their game. They made it and they continue to run the website, so why not. I admire their ambition, especially the ridiculous stretch goal they decided on. $500k? Good luck! $300k would have been a more realistic one.

This topic totally caught my attention lol :P
I need to check this game out, thank you for posting it!
With a username like yours, it was destined. ;) Town of Salem is all about lying and surviving. Good luck!

I play Town of Salem too, though not as much anymore, I played it more in the early days of the game (meaning - no scrolls, no different game modes, hardly any customization). Nowadays, it seems to me that basically in every game there is either trolls spamming the chat or people cheating via Skype, which is pretty annoying.
My favourite role is Jailor and I rock it everytime ;-) I also like Veteran, Investigator and Serial Killer but I dislike Medium, Survivor and Arsonist.
If anyone wants to add me, go ahead, username is the same as here. But as said, I'm not online that often, so it might take a while until you see me there.
