So I was browsing the Icy goods store an saw they were still selling the and other collors. It gave me a bit of a nostalgic feeling at first but then it hit me : these items were released just after i joined nearly 8 years ago. Most of the older stock was stuff that has been moved over from the clothing rack years ago. Also there are items i remember being added after the cropped jackets like the that have been retired for a while. Additionaly it seems that all the old stuff is preventing the more recently added items from stocking. Maybe some of the older items should be retired.

tl;dr retire some of the icy goods stock because some of it is from 2009, also the old items seem to prevent newer items from stocking more regularly.

No Support.

There are no junk items in Subeta, nor is there a "no more room oops can't restock" feature. It's not Neopets here. If nobody buys those crop tops, then they go out of circulation for awhile. This is automated. Older items are not preventing newer stuff from restocking just to obstruct new-item-seekers.

There was a mass retirement last year I think, another one will kill this shop..

The shops that needs a mass retirement are plushies and beanbags.

Okay, no need to get passive agressive, i did not in any way mean to imply the old stock was 'junk'. I was just making the observation that I seem to see the newer items restock a lot less than the older items. Also I kindof forgot about the new shop stocking sustem , honest mistake. I think people are mainly buying the old items for quests tho (i see them appear fairly often), but i can't confirm that.

I dont think retiring some old items will outright kill the shop, to my opinion icy goods gets most love out of all the themed shops with at least 3 new item sets each winter (it could use some more non wearables however). Retiring from the beanbag and plushie store might however create trouble down the line (if subeta will continue to exist for many years to come) because it might make it more difficult (than it already is) for members who haven't put any effort in their collections currently to complete them due to scarcity of the retired collectables (but that scenario would be many many years down the line.

I still think a small pool of items from icy goods could be retired but i will not lock this yet for if other people have things to say.

Most of the old beanbags/plushies are below r50. What scarcity?

okay, I might have opened a discussion here that i never should have but I should probably explain my point about he plushies after wich i should stop digging my own grave here.

Shure it will probably take a long time before any kind of scarcity in the old plushies occurs, and to be honest there is no way of predicting if the site still exists that many years down the line. We can see that many retired wearables (from the clothing rack) still have a relatively low value ,exeptions aside. The difference between wearables and collectibles however is that while were wearables can be put into the wardarobe and taken out again (and therefore theoretically stay in rotation indefinately), collectibes stay in their corresponding collection forever and therefore every plushie collected is one less in the user stores. Other ways for items to dissapear would be the fragmentizer and the delete function (but that is one i don't see many people use outside site duplication bugs or the pumpkin deleter achievement). All I am saying is that way in the future, if the site still exists, maybe retiring old collectibles now could give problems. But if new plushie and beanbag releases keep going steady, the corresponding achievements will by then probably be near impossible to get for niewbies anyway.

this discussion strayed far from topic by now, and i should have known that sugesting to take something away would not get positive feedback anyway. I just think retirements will happen eventualy ,if we want it or not.
