You can do SO much with a slow cooker! Tons of dump cakes, stews, soups and juicy meats. I'd definitely google for some crock pot recipes. The only thing I'd suggest getting is some chicken/beef stock for the soups/stews. It's relatively cheap, so it should fit your budget.

When you shop in the future though, I'd avoid cakes since most call for eggs and you are looking to avoid refrigeration.

actually some cake mixes can be used for something other than a cake.Like yellow cake mix ive heard of people using it for cobblers.. Ive been trying to look recipes up but so far finding stuff that takes over 5 hours to cook.. If i knew some of the basics like the uses of yellow cake mix and if can veggies go to mush in a crock pot..I would have some knowledge of possible things I could pull off.

Well if you were expecting a slow cooker to be fast, you're not in luck. Lol Slow cookers are great for set it and forget it. A lot of people will leave it on over night. I don't think I can help you with recipes faster than hours since I don't think there are none. Cobblers are still a sweet and to me cake mix seems like a bad idea but stock is a good idea to invest in.

They'll be fine. You could even use some of the juice from the canned process if you wanted to, to create the broths but I usually drain them. Google slow cooker x ingredient and you'll put things easily. c:

I would invest in a good kitchen pan. Don't get Teflon coated because it's bad for you. Ceramic coating is better.

I have a slow cooker and I have no idea how to use it. I know you can make lots of things with it, like spaghetti sauces, chicken, stews, ect. I don't feel comfortable leaving it on while I'm away.

I'm about to move out on my own AND just learned how to cook, so I'm in the same boat as you rn. But like said, you should for sure invest in a nice ceramic-coated pan big enough to cook a lot of food in. And the reason why I say that is because there are these things called "one pot meals". You can go on a website Pintrest and search for a bunch of recipes that only use one pot. Some of my current faves are:

One Pot Mushroom Spinach Artichoke Pasta Easy One Pot Lasagna One Pan Garlic Chicken Pesto Pasta Creamy Lemon Chicken Piccata

As you can tell, I'm a giant pasta fan. lmao. But yeah. The ingredients shouldn't be /too/ expensive (or even expensive at all, 'cause you do not have to worry about name-brand or splurging on ingredients if you're only cooking for yourself) and as someone who is just learning to cook, I found the prep to be relatively easy.

You can cook stir-fries and other stuff in a kitchen pan if you get one big enough.
