Im finally able to go back to Dallas for A-Kon :D Last time was a few years ago,and Ive never had a chance to go since then, but this year I get to go :D

Only reason I am able to go is i got my volunteer app approved (with a free badge for the days of the convention and a hotel room to crash in with other people (men with men, women with women) and I found someone that is going to be passing close-ish by me who is also going and said I could go with them :D

Volunteer applications should still be up on the website. After I finished mine, it took 3 or 4 days to get a reply (not sure if that included weekends, or even if they look at the apps on weekends), so not long a wait!

Now to try and figure out what sort of cosplay I want to go with...

Hopefully I'll be going! I'm having a craniotomy on monday(brain surgery to remove a tumor), and will be in recovery for almost a month. If everything goes well I'll be able to travel to Dallas. I'm really excited cause I've never been to a-kon!

My first ever convention was SDCC, and then A-Kon. Theres another convention happening the same days in Dallas...FanFest otr something? Stan Lee is going to be there is all I can remember

Not sure about what cosplay type thing I'll have, but I think it might eitehr be Cecil from Welcome to NIght Vale, GISHwhes (well, thats an event...But I think a big box covered in wrapping paper, with a sock monkey hat ad red cape/flag thing), Jayne from Firefly, Mark from Rent or Domininc Deegan frm the webcomic of the same name. If you see any of those worn by a big squishy person, its likely me :D (And if you wome up and say hi, I might go O-O for a second, but thats about it XD)

: That sounds like an awesome first con! My first con was a tiny little con, Mechacon, it was only on it's third year! I went to Saint Louis comic con last year though, and it was a ton of fun!

Oh! Those are all good choices! (and you have very good taste!) I vote gishwishes because it would be hilarious and everyone would get a kick out of it!

I too am undecided about my cosplay! I'll probably end up wearing what I wore to a previous con simply because it'll be easy to take off! So if you see someone in a bright yellow TNG jumpsuit, or a Deanna Troi in a bright blue dress with a walker or a wheelchair, you can also say hi!

Yep, it was :D. I think if I really look through my pictures on Facebook, I can find a picture of mysel next to a person in a Pikachu costume with the Pikachu car behind us.

Saw some actors fro Stargate Atlantis, but the picture of my favorite actor is long gone now D: D:

And its a good thing I know what TNG is, otherwise Id be like...WTF? XD A yellow color might be easier for me to see than Deanna, but I'll try to remember (and my memory sucks sometimes D: D: D: )

Im going to be there for all 3 days since Im going the volunteer route. Thats the only way I can go since Im broke. And someone else is going and passing through my general area, and offered to let me ride with them.

Might be seeing another person there I found on Facebook. Not sure if they will actually stop by there, but they seem kinda undecided right now. And a GISHwhes person too :D :D

: Oh that is sweet! The dukes of hazard car was at my last con! I wonder why they show cars at cons? My costume is really going to depend on how mobile I am. The jumpsuit has a zipper in the back, so if my fingers aren't working properly yet, I'm going to have to have someone help me unzip to go to the bathroom! The dress will be easier to work with! (I might be a /bit/ obsessed with star trek. well really, I enjoy a lot of science fiction shows. I could never get into Atlantis, but SG1 was my favorite show forever! Mmh. Loved me some Daniel Jackson.

Oh! That really is a good way to go then! ride to the con, and volunteer pass? boom! What a way to have fun on a budget and meet people! Cons are really great that way. I'm getting to see a ton of friends from my high school days before I moved across the country! Speaking of which, they are all pretty big GISHwhes people too!

Maybe they have a specific show they come from? Like the Impala from Supernatural), or based off of something from a a TV show (like the Pikachu car).

I thought I wouldn't really like TNG, but that turned out to be untrue. I have season 1 of TNG on DVD, and both of the reboot movies (actually, 2 copes of the first one...no idea why.)

I never really got into SG-1 beyond seaosn..& iI think? I dont know really. Really liked Atlantis, but SGU just kinda...sucked. I never got into the second season (And I heard there was the huge cliffhanger at the end). And after watching Once Upon a Time, Dr Rush/Rumple get kinda mixed up in my mind. Same with Martouf/Chris Argent.Still a big fan of Daniel Jackson, and Dr. Beckett (I think thats his name? I somehow called him "Hot Scottish Doctor Man" when talking about him to my brother since I could never remember his name oO)

YAY, GISHwhes! :D :D Ive been with it since the start, and I'll keep on with it until there is no more GISHwhes. Eventually going to get a GISHwhes temed tattoo. Not like "Get a tatoo of the pope" sort, but the logo, maybe with some of the mascots from the different years

EDIT: I remembered taht I have some printouts of some of the past yaers items (not last years, but before that) I can tack to my box/costume. And I actually know where these things are! :D

I grew up watching TOS and TNG, but trying to rewatch TOS is torture with the bad special effects. I like the new reboot too! I think the new movie comes out soon!

Ah man, I think I shall now refer to him as Hot Scottish Doctor Man, But then again, I think that the New Doctor is a Scott, and it would throw my friends off!

Oh my goodness! That sounds like fun! You should definitely do that! (do they really have things like get a tattoo of the POPE?! lol) I've never been able to get involved, cause I've always been working. But my friends always have a good time, and I keep telling myself that I'm going to do it some year!

Maybe some people just like to show off their things? I mean, I would too if I had an Impala of my own (seen some for sale online but bad condition. Paint Jobs needed, but still...bad condition).

And I think the Pope tattoo was...last year? Anotehr year was something that most people think of as 'really girly' to be tattood on a big burly looking type guy I think it was. Two things you wouldn't expect to see together. I did see one picture of that item completed, but there is a chance it could have been faked.

Even if you aren't an official part of the team, you can always be a cheerleader, or help out on the things that you can, or maybe organize the team accounts (facebook, youtube, imgur, the email account for all of those). Maybe offer suggestions on ideas you ahve for whatever item there is?

The only bad part is that if your team wins, you wouldn't get to go on the trip with them :( (Though if IW as one of your friends, Id at least try to get you a qutograph from Misha. Or two. Yeah, two is good).

And Im pretty sur ehe is too. And David Tennant was (well, still is) Scottish, and had to not use it except in that episode with Queen Victoria (but maybe that was a fake version of his accent?). And I found out John Barrowman was Scottish too...I didnt believe it until I looked on youtube and then I was like O_O Ive always heard him talk as an American, which is weird.

I found a way thats supposed to make temporary tattoos with stuff most people may have around the house (or is cheap to buy), so I might make up a design for one or two fo them and put them on my arms. Though getting it on my right would be kinda hard, since im right handed.

EDIT: Theres a local ComicCon type thing happening in...September I think, and IM trying to see if I can get a GISHwhes panel on the schedule. Someone I found through the GISHwhes Network FB group that sai they might make a trip up here to help out (or maybe only if its in Dallas cause they're close to there>)
