To clarify, my boyfriend and I lived in Missouri and moved out last year. Long story short, we were scammed of an apartment and lost money and had nowhere else to go. His family hates me because I'm agnostic and democrat...stupid things, but not the focus.

Anyway, my boyfriend and I moved back here in Rhode Island to my dad's house where it's him and my brother, who's 18.

Things were good for the first few weeks. Dad was happy I was home, brother wouldn't leave me alone for five minutes. The upstairs is three rooms: my bedroom, a 'game' room where my boyfriend and I's computers are, and my brother's bedroom. He doesn't have a door, just a curtain, it comes into play later.

My dad's been raised as a sexist jerk for years and as such, my brother's become sexist too. I was told by my father that I'm now "the maid of the house" because "it's about time a girl's here to clean it up nice." My dad smokes constantly and the house is old and stained, so cleaning is near impossible, but I do my best. I have to do the dishes, sweep, mop, and clean both bathrooms on a DAILY basis. Not really a big deal...except my dad doesn't like the way I clean.

Last week, I was in a stream (I am a digital artist and stream commissions) and talked about how my brother pirates stuff all the time and because he download 50 gigs of stuff a DAY I bought a QoS router...except it doesn't work. My brother overheard (no door) and screamed at the top of his lungs "I'll download all the shit I want you fucking cunt" and proceeded to scream while I told my stream I'd be right back. Unfortunately, I forgot my stream was NOT set to push to talk so people heard everything.

I went into my brother's room and asked him for my laptop--his current computer--back until he could behave and apologize/respect me, to which he grabbed my hands and threw me against his wall and proceeded to choke my, screaming profanities and insults at me, to which my stream heard. At this point my boyfriend came in and threw my brother to the ground and my brother's demeanor INSTANTLY changed, he was apologizing and telling him 'she just pisses me off'.

At this point my brother goes downstairs to call my dad and my boyfriend is nursing my elbow, since it got banged up and was bleeding a bit. My stream-watchers heard everything and one called the cops, as they knew my address (they sent me a care pakage once). At this point my brother's hiding in my dad's room so when my dad comes home he won't be in the warpath. I call my dad and inform him his son choked me to which he tells me he's coming home to break my computer and throw my bf and me out.

I'm 23 years old.

Few days go by and dad tells me he wants me out by April 1st. I make about $200 a month and my boyfriend's still finding a job as jobs are near impossible to get here. My dad sees the bruises on my neck, scoffs, and goes 'your boyfriend gets to fuck you in my house and you blame it on your brother, real fucking mature". I explain to my dad, again, that his son did this because he won't share the internet that I pay for and my dad just shakes his head and goes 'well you won't need the internet when I throw your asses out." he then proceeds to tell me that since my brother is still in school, failing all his classes, that he doesn't need a job and he needs all the net he can get because "he works for it.". My brother doesn't need to cook or clean and my dad spoils him to death.

I can't afford a place to go and have no friends here anymore, and life is getting harder and harder. I'll be homeless in two days and I don't know what to do.

Your brother thinks it's okay to try to kill women that cross him. It honestly may be for the best if you stayed in a shelter.

1. Cancel the internet (why should you pay for it for your brother's use)?
2. Call a battered women's shelter so you can have a place to stay
3. Have you no relatives who could help you?
4. Call Social Services in order to get food stamps and emergency housing vouchers.
5. Inform your darling father that, legally, he CANNOT evict you from the house. Inform him that you will be leaving as soon as you get back on your feet.

Welp, you can always come back to Missouri. My fiance and I need a roommate to get outta the dump we're in. ;)

This is awful to read. I'm sorry this happened. I really wanna punch your brother and good ol' daddy-o in the face. I'm short, so I'm closer to hell, which means I'm more evil.

I definitely agree with the others on trying to find a shelter in the meantime. I have no idea the laws pertaining to food stamps and such for Rhode Island, but it won't hurt at all to go by there and get some information - they'll at least be able to point you in the right direction.
