It would have been great to have had some long skirts which matched the Antique Lamps in colour. I would also have been nice to have had some more portraits for old fashioned clothing (see Steamworks Menagerie 2015). Why just mini skirts when we have dozens of mini skirts on the site already?
The artwork for everything is beautiful, though, and I'm finding some useful accessories. It's just a bit disappointing when elaborate Goth style dresses were asked for in the Masquerade suggestions thread.
There are plenty of long skirts on-site, and I'm pretty sure a lot of the mermaid wrap skirts and other skirts on-site would match really well with the new Masq wearables.
There's still another wave to come, if they follow how they've been doing it. Also, I think there are more long skirts on-site than there are mini skirts.
:(
15 new books though (10 in wave 2, 5 in wave 1 I believe, 3 in menagerie, 2 in the lounge), I can't complain about that.
No, this was the only additional wave. I wanted to make sure everyone knew how many trinkets they needed for this year (and also still prepare for the fact 2012 is retiring at the end).
The second wave is the last for this year. I know there are a lot of long skirts already but it's not always easy to find things that match or go together where colour is concerned. This is why I said long skirts which matched the antique lamps.
Sorry, in my tiredness of just getting up I didn't even think about reading over the post. I'm sorry about that ! (Also happy about books, very pleased with those... And the three new wigs) ... Oh boy, I am going to bitch about the lack of male-leaning items.
it's okay! it's easy to overlook especially when you're distracted by the new items =P
You have no idea how distracted I was over those wigs. Especially the frohawks. I had barely noticed the books because of them.
I'm pretty good at ignoring everything except books. I had just woken up so I made sure getting all of them was the first thing I did.
I was also happy this year with the addition of books to the lounge. I never use the lounge since I don't do food, so this was a nice addition (even if I almost didn't find them)
I can't comment on the wearables since I most likely won't ever use any of them. If there weren't many male-leaning items, I think maybe it should be more balanced in the future? I saw a few people wanting it to be more balanced, and it seems like we get many more female-leaning items throughout the year anyway. again, I can't comment on this with any real opinion, wearables are just not my thing
I think this year there is a good balance of just unisex items in general (also more male wigs than female this time around!). Yes, there are a few more actual female items. Personally, I love how the items have been done this year, like the actual items themselves. I would never use those trains as wearables, but the item images? SUPER GREAT need all, will find a pet to shove them in. That was my favorite part of Vesnali last year, all the like great TC items, and I'm glad we're able to bring that into the other holidays as well. :D
I'm glad you caught the lounge books! I wanted something in there that would appeal to more people than just food/drinks. Drink/food menus seemed like a good idea. :)
I check the directory when a big release comes out just so I don't miss stuff like that. when I saw them, I was caught off-guard :P I think that is a good idea too! makes sense to me :)
Seriously my favorite part of masq this year. Stuck to the lounge theme, but made an addition a wider variety of people can use, and they're expensive so it gives value to lounge trinkets.
Think you guys killed it with that one
So, Muerte-is-an-ass comment now. :p First I want to note how stunning I think everything is. Seriously, great job and lots of fun items (both wearable and item aspects, love the versatility !). I would expect the site to lean more feminine, no way around that. Main demographic and all. That's fine. And this year we did get a fair few more neutral items. 14 feminine-leaning items, 11 neutral, 6 masculine. Dinos were excluded because they aren't actually clothing. That's a little bit bad. It would have been easy to do different styles of more masculine items to better even things (like how the trains were done; or how there are three different kinds of corsets). Like vests. There are many different kinds of vests, with many different patterns. There was a set of things leaning more feminine... Why not a set leaning more masculine ? Dress shirts, ties ? Bowler hats, top hats ?
I was shocked and liked that there were books in there, I'd actually love it if all books were moved there "come order a drink, perhaps order ten and sit down to read this long-ass book about dancing. At the masquerade." It would make people use those trinkets more. I wouldn't expect you to notice wearable much, especially over the books :p But lately the site HAS been better about it, at least mostly.
Yeah, it is pretty abnormal that we got one more wig over the ladies (counting the dreads as a neutral wig). And I am 100% on board for the continued tc/wearable mixing.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but by retired does that mean that we will no longer be able to buy the 2012 items from the SW menagerie after this year?
For now, yes! We're retiring the items that fall under the 2012 tab at the end of the holiday to help some of the lag people are experiencing in the shop (because there are a lot of items in general and they all load at once)! Sometime in the future, when a programmer gets the chance to make the special shops not load all items at once (giving them their own page most likely), we'll bring back older items from various holiday shops for people to grab. :)
To give an example of what I mean, I'm trying to find something that goes with [item2=Antique Turquoise Lamp] because I love the colour. I've searched for turquoise, seafoam and ocean but, while there are umpteen shades of each, I can't find anything that looks right with the lamp apart from one of the Partycrahser mini skirts. I've even tried looking through all items in hope of finding something that matches with some other name for the colour but I've given up now.
That's good news then! I'll have to be sure to save up plenty of extra event currencies going forward. :)
Okay, that makes sense, thank you! :) Will you be retiring the items before that (in the 2010 tab) as well?
