Hi, I'm a Portuguese professional illustrator-to-be and I'll be finishing my bachelor degree this year. After that, my plan would be to continue my studies with a master at the U.K. but in order to do so I'll be needing to score at least a 6.5 at my IELTS exam which will be next month already... I'm getting pretty nervous about it.

Has anyone taken one of those exams? Are they that difficult? Do you have any tips or advice? I'd really appreciate any feedback!

Ps: I'm sorry, it might seem insensitive of me to be talking about an English exam at the "Issues and Advice" boards where everybody was way more serious things to deal with. The thing is I can't go back to living with my parents with whom I have a terrible, unhealthy relationship and that's probably what would happen I failed. It's not just a test, it's my professional future and my sanity that are on stake n_n Dramaaaa ~

Hi , sorry to bump this old post! How was your IELTS exam? I've never needed to do it as an English speaking native however I used to work in the Education sector where I assist International students who plan to come and study in Australia. I understand it's a really demanding test and not easy to attain 6.5, which seems like the norm these days (6.5 overall, no band below 6.0).

I hope all is well!

It was fine, thank you! ? I ended up getting a 7.5 overall so I'm pretty happy about it!

yes, I was VERY nervous and the exam was pretty exhausting, as we did the listening, reading and writing on the same day and there were no breaks between those tests. I didn't do too good on the speaking nor the writing but even so I was able to get the score I needed : )) thank you!

Ohhhh I still haven't sent any applications so I don't really know yet! I need to work on my portfolio, write motivation letters and all that jazz : P

Do you have any piece of advice as someone who worked with international students?
