I'm not a very good nor frequent battler but I was hoping someone with more experience can tell me whether the Blackmoons War Plate is worth adding to my battle set or trying to sell?

Truth be told, the warplate is not worth it. Since the curse isn't completely reliable, you will often be leaving yourself open against your opponent, who may abuse that opportunity to heal, freeze, steal, or boost. This weapon is mostly outclassed by Malerias cursed arm bangle.
