There are so many happy chat threads here and I'm too much an on-and-off user to feel like I can just jump in wherever so--here's my own, and I welcome those who also don't want to jump into established threads. A brief intro!

I'm Iris (on those internets, anyway) and I'm a grad student in the northeastern US though I'm from the south! I like: too much TV, serious (Hannibal, Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, etc) and not (Archer, Bob's Burgers); Star Wars (Jedi-mode obsession tbh); libraries and stuff you associate with libraries (getting my MLIS now, hell yeah); magical girls, regular girls, dolls, comics, and a bunch of other stuff.

Oh, you're the first person I know who is studying library and information science! But that's probably because my school didn't offer that major. And I have somehow avoided talking to any professional librarians xD So do you have a preference to where or what kind of library you want to work at?

I have bachelors in computer science and a minor in math. I thought about going for my masters, but I'm just not mentally prepared for graduate work. And my field mostly care about experience. My current job never asked for proof of degree. They just kinda took my word for it, haha.

Anyway, you like dolls and comics? Do you collect either or both? :o

If you're still in school, talk to your librarian some time, haha! They know stuff and are there to help! I'd like to work in a public library myself, particularly with kids and teens. I get to help people in their formative years and have a great excuse to read lots of kids' and YA books.

That's cool! I've never been much of a math person--made it to AB Calc in high school, stumbled my way to passing but never went back to it, lol. I'm fascinated by math and science conceptually though!

I'm out of school, but if I ever go the university's library, I'll try to hunt down the elusive mythical librarian that lurks there. Most of the time, I just find student assistants xD

Oh, which comics are you most in to? I've quite a few, too. I'm mostly into Nightwing. And lots of X-Men.

To what extent do you collect dolls? Any kind of specific dolls or just all dolls in general? When people say they collect dolls, I immediately go the creepiest scenario. So yes, in my imagination, you and your room is creepy now. I blame movies and stuff :P

Right now I'm in love with Paper Girls, Squirrel Girl, and Zodiac Starforce (I love magical girls).

They're not the scary Victorian porcelain suck-your-soul-out types of dolls, but they're probably creepy to some--not that that's gonna stop me. Mainly I collect Jun Planning dolls, Pullip/Dal/Taeyang etc. You can take a look at those kinds here if you're curious! I also have a couple similar "big eye" dolls, a Blythe and a Tangkou. My newest addition is a resin ball-jointed doll (a minifee Celine), which are of the kind you may associate with crazy doll people, but I promise I'm not at that level.

Ooo, nice. Okay, yeah, most of these aren't that creepy. Kinda cute. Although, I would still probably be scared if the house is filled with them and its the middle of the night and I hear a noise. Or need to pee. Or need a midnight snack. That Celine one would is exactly the kind of doll that would scare me xD I'll take your word for it that you're not crazy, though. So how are you, how's your weekend?

Haha, well, to each their own! There are definitely some BJDs I find creepy, too, though. The weekend has been relatively uneventful! The weather has been nice though, which is always good. Mostly I've just been working on some class assignments. How about you?

Not much for me this weekend either. Just been nagging my friends to hang out with me, but of course the one weekend I'm free, nobody wants to. So I've just been at home, playing with my dog, doing chores. Did you have spring break already? Or not yet? :o

Well uh himI'm not great at chatting but I would like to. I looove books I worked at I library for a bit. Bob's burgers one of my favorite shows.

Woo I'm late replying, sorry! I had spring break the second week of March, which is so not spring. Although we actually had nice weather this year, unlike my last spring break which was in a blizzard. So no complaints!

I'm not great at it either, but practice helps, right? What kind of library/what kind of job? Did you enjoy it? And omg yes I am obsessed with Bob's Burgers. I need the next season to hurry up and get on Netflix but it probably won't until like, May...

A local public library I started as a student volunteer, but when i graduated i was put in charge for a month until they found a new librarian.

Whaaat that's awesome! That's like my dream job, haha. Well, sorta, I mainly want to work with kids and teens so I guess I'd rather be in charge of that department instead of the whole place. Did you have like...full-blown librarian responsibilities? Did you get to buy stuff? (Saying this giddily as I work on my imaginary budget for my collection development class, haha...)

Yes i did but the library was in a building complex and the cleaners stole the dusters and screen cleaners so that was a bummer, but I loved getting to plan the reading club stuff and the weekly kids activities.

That sounds like a blast (minus the stealing)! Do you have any plans to work in libraries again?

I feel you. It's back to cold here. First day of spring, expecting snow overnight. Sigh.

Really nice! I had a lovely lazy Saturday and a pleasantly productive Sunday to make up for it. How about you?
