I know this was suggested previously (I think the last time was by in '12 ?) and shot down by Keith with a "for now" so I thought I'd bring it up again. The new system is, of course, amazing. I love that we can direct-to-CS (makes super private/potential permanent denial items much easier to process) and being able to limit or maintain further batches is great. But something I've noticed a lot of lately are items not filling past 5-8. If you're a commissioner and pay for a fair amount of items, or tend to draw a fair amount of items, putting them in directly to the CS can get very expensive (hi, I am poor); and fronting for all of the unfilled slots is as expensive. It's also a pain to have to shelve large numbers of items.
and are pretty swamped in there, I'm sure, but how many of the items are either directly to the CS due to unfilled slots, or the submitter fronts for multiple slots (past two for commissioners). How much would it increase really, in the long run. I'm sure there would be an influx of items being submitted now if this were implemented, but wouldn't it even out to about the same ?
I second this suggestion so very much. It is really cost prohibitive to have to direct to CS less popular items (and has the added absurdity of not being able to drag it out of the shop after that is fulfilled so that once all copies on a "single" batch item are sold, its still taking up space in there and will appear in shop searches).
Sometimes I pay upwards of $30 to have something made, then find myself paying another $20+ just to get it on site (either from covering unfilled slots or having to do direct to CS and then purchase an artist copy).
While initially this may result in more submissions (since a lot of folks have things on the back burner that are half filled), I think in the long run it would even out to around the same number of submissions that we have on average.
I would really love this; I have trouble filling items a lot. I have some recolors to release but I can't afford to push batches through myself if I can't fill them, plus I've got a ton of batch spares on hand from previous items that aren't selling either and now I'm stuck with them. [edit] I'd also be okay with it if, for all intents and purposes, the site still considered a partial batch as a batch of 10 as far as how many batches you can submit; i.e. if I submit an item and cap it at 1 batch, it doesn't matter how many slots I submit that batch at, it still counts as full. I'm not sure this makes a difference tbh
I know I for one would submit a LOT more things if we could submit smaller batches for the first batch. It really sucks when you get 5-8 people interested and can't drag interest further. As an artist it just is so upsetting / feels like a waste of time ._.
I'd really enjoy this! However, I don't think it should be used except in certain circumstances. For example I don't want people to make ultra limited supa spesh batches of things and then release them later for the rest etc etc. I think it should be limited to things that literally cannot otherwise fill a batch, and when you submit you only get that one batch. The CW market is suffering as it is and otherwise I see this causing more problems than it solves.
I don't like the idea of it having such a small forced cap. If they put the batch at 5, what if 7 had signed up for it ? Basically a fuck you to them, no (and also defeats the purpose of this if no one uses it for this reason) ? And isn't it against the rules to promise something is super private/limited only to turn around and release more publicly ? If there's a forced cap, I'd be fine with it. But not a one batch limit.
i too thought of this quite awhile ago, and pinged keith to the topic which you should do too, but i had said opening it to 20 different slots and players being able to pay 250csc each? cause i do see your point maybe it would be easier to fill slots if the item simply costs less.

I wish I had seen this sooner, but I would still like this, especially as it requires I either up the price of direct-to-CS submissions to break even, or I sell a minimum of 16 items when only 8 people can afford to pay right now. Quite often things tick over and do break even eventually, but it can be a real drain trying to submit things at a loss all the time.
I'd like this idea! It'll be good for the cw economy not to have like 2-3 spare copies of items that nobody has claimed floating around that we have to try and desperately sell and eventually pawn :(
Also this 5-8 people are interested happens to me all the time when releasing CWs so I just release them directly to the CS and it's expensive. Would be nice if I could release more CWs without making an expensive loss each time
