Turns out you don't have to have a pet made before making a steamworks pet now. These pets wind up with a gear for a "gender" instead of having male or female. For those of us who make a pet and then decide later that we want them Steamworks, it'd be nice if there was some way of changing the gender to a gear instead of having it as male or female. Maybe have a Steamworks Berry or something that would only work on Steamworks pets.

It'd be nice if the Sex Berry changed, too, transformed really, so that there was a Male Sex Berry and a Female Sex Berry so that if people who created a Steamworks pet right off the bat wanted a specific gender for the pet, could have a way of choosing one.

I'd also like to see a way of changing the "birth" of a Steamworks pet to "built" for those of us that turned our created pets Steamworks. See the link above for the Built date, too.

Oh I really like this idea a lot to. Oddly enough it works very well for the pet i created because she is genderless even if she is "female".

It would be nice for people ot have this option even if they pets weren't steam work? Maybe some kind of a Neutral gender symbol.

there is the Genderless Berry, but that just gives your pet a circle for a gender. I would love to see that gear personally :P

I don't know how I feel about this. I don't really think it's necessary, I kind of like that the gear only exists for Steamworks pets built from scratch. I definitely don't think pets turned Steamworks should get a "built" date since they weren't built, they were born and changed.

this option, being able to build a Steamworks pet without having to create one first, is new. I think that if people want to change, they could have a one time change where they could get a built date instead of a born date, as it may work better for the pet in general. People changed their pets to steamworks because they wanted it that way, but the only way to do it before this new option became available was to create the pet first. I don't see why, if people want this look on their pet's page, they can't have a one-time change from "born" to "built" as that may have been some people's desire in the first place, but there was no other way of doing it but to create a pet initially. If they change to "built" there would be no way of changing back to "born" again.

I don't think it's as new as you think it is. It's been available since at least December, but I'm pretty sure it's been an option a lot longer than that, since I knew it was available long before I made my pet. Will edit if I can hunt down a news post about it [edit] I can't find a news post about any changes to the process, but several hint towards being able to craft a Steamworks pet from scratch. - I'm pretty sure the gear gender has been around since Steamworks pets were originally released. I did some googling and found a post from 2010 referencing it.

I confirm that the Steamworks option to create a pet from scratch has been around since Steamworks pets were a thing. I created three steamworks pets from scratch in the first weeks of release. (YUNIUM KEYS WERE EXPENSIVE AND I USED SO MANY MASTER SCHEMATICS)

If you want a gear gender pet or a build date, create a steamworks pet.

It's a gimmick that's unique to them, and I like the fact that you gotta do that to get a built pet. Adding a "one-time only change" makes things complicated.
