"I foresaw you would win the House Cup again last term, and now you have! Alas, the Sight has not bestowed upon me whether this term we will be as successful. However, I digress... I have become quite accustomed to the trophy in my alcove, so I implore you all to do your best again this term." She beams at them momentarily. "Right, to business. For new students, as you saw when we entered, you must answer a riddle to get into the common room. Answer wrong, and you are stuck outside until the correct answer is given. Sharpen your minds! No one likes sleeping in the corridor." She tutted.

Gaia was trying to balance her book bag, treats, some magazines, and her wand while crossing the common room entrance. It had been a fun holiday but she was ready for school action. Looking around she plopped herself on a chair by the fire waiting for the familiar faces to show up. Surely there are many Claws around. Gaia wondered if her friends were around yet. She took an acid pop from her bag and began looking through her muggle fashion magazine. ( )

He had been waiting there for hours (or maybe it was days; it was hard to tell). He watched the first Ravenclaw enter through the hazy film of books and was pleased to see . He stood up and braced himself, ready to pop out on her for a good scare.

Gaia chuckled to herself "Ruffles are making a come back... Roman () you can't scare a Seer." Gaia smiled towards her friend. "I brought you the muggle paranormal magazines. There was also a fun book about haunted places! How was your holiday?"

He flew out of the shelf, pouting and landed on the couch next to her. He pretended to ruffle her hair and smiled brashly. "My summer was alright if you enjoy being surrounded by four crazy siblings." He glanced toward the magazine and noticed a hilarious drawing of what was supposed to be a goblin on the cover.

"How was your summer? Did you spend time on the island?"

() Gaia smiled and fixed her hair "Nah, I was at the farm. It seems owls are very popular this year, so dad needed help making a new owl barn in the farm. We also had a unicorn give birth so I got to help out with POP the baby." Gaia laughed putting aside her fashion magazine and fetching her gifts for Roman. "Whenever you want we can take a look at these! I heard there is a haunted castle not far from my family's farm. You should come visit next holiday so we can go check it out!"

Aderyn rushed into the common room after a nice, hot bath in the prefects' bathroom. She felt amazing and her skin glittered with a faint shimmer from whatever liquid had poured from one of the taps she'd turned on. To top it all off, a scent of roses followed her as an after-effect of the scented oils in the tub. Glancing around, she spotted Gaia and Roman near the fireplace and she beamed, rushing over to them.

"Hey! Long time no see!"

"Don't you smell fancy?!?" Gaia beamed at her friend "How was your holiday? I also hear you are our new prefect! Well done!"

"My holiday was great! Visited the Isle of Skye with my dad to learn how medicinal plants grow and spent some time with my grandmother's clan of Fae. How about yours?"

She grinned and dropped down into one of the chairs near the fire, curling up comfortably.

() "What new things you learned about plants?" Gaia was excited about that particular subject "I brought two new books with me muggle Herbal Almanac and the Encyclopedia of Magical water and air plants!" Gaia start rummaging though her bag "they should be here somewhere" she muttered to herself.

"I learned tons of things! I got to help cultivate Gillyweed, and learned that the water of the fairy pools on the island supports the world's only known crop of Spritestem, which wizards are only just beginning to incorporate into medicinal potions, but which the Fae folk have been using for hundreds of years to treat wing wounds and various envenomations."

Aderyn watched Gaia look through her bag.

"I'd love to see them! They sound fantastic! What kinds of plants do muggles use for illness and injury? From what little I know of the muggle world, I always thought they just used pastilles of all sorts with medicine in them."

() "It has actually been long time use of remedies. Some are in form of Flower Essences and others use homeopathic remedies. It is quite fascinating since it seems muggles prefer to use pharmaceutical substitutions instead." Gaia rolled her eyes and found the Almanac first "Here you go! This one is about herbs and their different uses."

"Can we plant Spritestem here? I am sure we could have some of the forest fairies help us out and we can create a pool inside greenhouse 1!" gaia said with a sparkle in her eye. They had made friends with some of the fairies in the forest last term when Gaia had hanged some mirrors in some trees and left baskets of fruits and nuts around.

Aderyn took the tome from Gaia, flipping it open with rapt fascination and glancing at the entries on the pages. A lot of the plants she was familiar with, but some were entirely new to her.

"I'm not sure if it would grown. There's something about the water in the fairy pools that supports its growth, but I'm sure we could try! I could send an owl to my grandmother and ask her if she knows anything that might help us try!"

"I think it would be fun! You can send Unicorn if you want since I would still have Briggs in case I need an owl." Gaia pulled the large encyclopedia book from her bag it was laying flat on the floor inside her bag making it difficult to get out. "This one is a lot of fun reading.i have only skimmed through it."

"I think I'll send Hygieia to let her stretch her wings after summer holidays. I didn't keep her too busy so I'm sure she's dying to get out!"

Flipping through the book, she found an entry on foxglove and she read through it. It was a plant that her father used in some types of potions sometimes, and she was surprised to find that it was so harmful to Muggles if used in the wrong quantity.

"I hear the foals are pretty gnarly looking at birth though." Without thinking, he attempted to leaf through one of the magazines and stopped when he realized he couldn't. "That was really cool of you to grab these," he laughed.

He spotted Aderyn () and waved. Her wings appeared sleek from the bath. He overheard a little of the girls conversation and muttered, "You need to watch out for some of those forest sprites. My little sister accidentally stepped on one once, and it ransacked our home for weeks."

Aderyn smiled wryly as Roman warned them about the forest sprites.

"Yeah, unfortunately fae of all sorts can be rather... temperamental. They like to nick things, too. If you're ever missing something you swear you've left in a particular place, it's probably in the hands of a fairy somewhere."

Adrien answered his riddle and walked into the common room, his pack slung over his shoulder. "Hey guys!" He waved at Gaia, Aderyn, and Roman once he saw them. He made his way to a chair and flopped down. Adrien pulled pumpkin pasty from his pack and nibbled on it contentedly.

Gaia grinned at Adrien "About time!" she threw candy pumpkins at him "I got you those form the muggle candy store. I figured you might like them! If not they are super cute!" Gaia giggled and blushed a little. "How was your holiday?" Turning to Aderyn "Oh, that works! Get her to exercise so she doesn't get bored!" ()

Grinning at Adrien with a wave as he walked in, Aderyn motioned to an empty chair next to her, watching him flop into it.

"Hey stranger! How are you doing?"

She nodded as carried on their talk about owls.

"I'm sure she'd be happy to go out an eat something exotic on her way! I'm sure she's growing bored of owl pellets, treats, and the local insects."
