I thought I'd put together some overall feedback on this year's Survival Celebrations. I found the waiting times for the viruses a little confusing. I know there was a bug that made things slow but maybe a timer of some sort would help keep track of where the strain is at. I loved the new designs! So many interesting changes and creative forms. The stages were as much fun as the final forms! A wonderful range. Thank you to the artists, they worked amazingly hard to create an amazing range of wonderful designs this year! The waiting times between kisses seems to have increased this year. It seemed to take a lot longer to get Candy Hearts together. I saw more 5-6 minute timers for one or two hearts which made it rather frustrating. I know it's not easy to balance challenge and enjoyment but maybe keep the number of hearts up to balance it out? The shop was wonderful. So many pretty things! Again, many thanks to the wonderful artists and tech crews for producing so many lovely new items! I'll be enjoying them for quite a while yet. The Zombie Den was the same with some amazing additions. All were a huge amount of fun. I noticed that this year was lacking a certain Doctor. Has Dr. Lockhearts Amoryl finally hung up his coat and left us or is he taking a break for this year? I know his cures won't work anymore but I don't think they ever did. I hope he'll be back again. It was good to see the wrestlers back again. The battles with them were very fun and Senora Natcho is a real heavy hitter. I'm hoping to beat him next time with any luck. Does anyone else have anything to add?
I have over 10k candy hearts in my vault from this year, so I don't think the hearts were harder to come by.
I thought things went okay. Sure the mechanics could have been a bit clearer, and biting does need to be changed next year to be easier if you want a less common strain, but it was okay. I got four strains, and that's all I was really hoping for. Battling was nice. 6 challenger of varying difficulties is always appreciated. Nacho coulda been tougher, but oh well.
The FAQs page was a nice addition even if a lot of people skimmed it. Maybe next year it could be more visible instead of "buried in the forums"
I though things went okay though despite the giltch at the beginning. Holidays are what makes this site active and interesting, so I'm always happy when one begins.
Waiting times seemed fine for me. It's all random, the waiting time and the number of hearts you get. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the waiting times didn't change from last year.
Like I discussed with you, , I have a few notes about how to improve Survival next year written down (and I'll keep an eye on this thread for other things to take note of). We'll have a page for FAQ (that you'll be able to find via news page + VIP page) but also have a forum open so users can easily ask us questions instead of having a bunch of places pop up in help. I'm also looking into making the biting work a bit better (some people are confused as to what it actually does etc).
As far as times - kissing is usually longer the first week or so and then the last few days (or in this case day) of Survival we shorten it. Next year, I'll make sure it happens a bit earlier. :) We shortened the wait time between stages for strains further into the holiday too; it was unfortunate that the first day it was broken so people thought 24+ hours was for the first stage always.
also i'm very surprised you didn't suggest having pylot come back next year.
I am holding out hope they come back for a battle week before next year. I was just providing feedback of this year's event :P wrestlers were a good alternative to pylots (though they really do need to come back) and I enjoyed fighting them with their new stats.
most of the criticism I saw was from people who were confused and didn't quite know how things worked. The FAQs page was a great addition this year though. Biting does need something done to it so people can bite without losing time on their strain and so you don't need to rely on the one person who actually has grossfungus to a stage where they can bite. I'm sure next year it will be smoother though as we've talked about this before and you are brainstorming a few things. I didn't actually have any problems, my viruses started right away and I got bites I needed, though I may have picked a few different viruses if I knew I could easily get the bites I needed for them.
I had a blast this year. I received enough candy and kisses to keep me happy. Flowers floating were a little harder to come by this year than last years past. Wait times for kissing will never be short enough lol.
Strains were creative and after the bug progressed in a orderly fashion :) Thanks Subeta you did a good job this year! I know you try hard to keep events moving smoothly and where everyone from n00bs to experts can partake! Cant wait for Spring time fun coming up!
I, too, enjoyed my first full Survival very much. Thank you guys for the lovely art, the detailed FAQ and two fun, overall downtime-free weeks. :-) I got plenty of hearts and all virus strains I was after. I'm still not entirely sure what biting does, though (although I have a vague idea, I'm not sure I got it right). Some clarification on that would be very much appreciated. Maybe on the VIP page where they ask people to become infection specialists? I believe working adults may have found it less easy to get all hearts they needed. I think the significant decrease in wait times on the last day helped out a lot, though, so thank you for doing that. :-)
Thank you for all your hard work!
OMG PYLOTS PLEASE!
Aside from that waiting times for the infections were strange and biting seemed to be a problem (or getting bittin with something specific). But anything else seemed fine. I'd love to get more information on the skitters/ecks thing that happened back then and generally more underground lore. Not even a plot, but just loads of lore.
How the hell did you manage 10k candy hearts? I feel kinda useless now with only 1,5k. xD
Autorefreshing does wonders, and I made my laptop never sleep. I kinda wish they made events where autorefreshers wouldn't benefit you, but so many people use them that I feel like I'm ripping myself off if I don't use one.
I guess I should try installing one for masquerade. Even if I turn the PC off while I'm away (would be super afraid it could be hit by a lightning and I had that happen before) that will do wonders I guess. But yes, events where autorefreshing does not help at all would be nice, I'm not sure how we could get all those currencies any other way without making it super complicated to get them at all. At least auto refreshing won't work with battling. I may not be a good battler when it comes to tactics or anything, but I sure have the dedication to lose over and over again manually if necessary. :P
I'm not sure it works as well with masquerade, I think the links expire more reliably, but we'll see, I don't remember too well. if it worked with battling it would be a disaster, I would hate it so much.
I'm bummed with how the viruses went. I didn't really get that there were 2 ways to get random strain this year and that signing up for the hustler would give me a random one (I assumed that it was the use of the random button). So I had to wait until that new cure came out to set that straight, wasting precious time. So I got infected with my fourth strain in the last few hours of the event while i was asleep (bless those people who kept biting me).
I had a hard time getting candy hearts because i couldn't be online during the day unlike previous years and my links kept expiring so I got all together maybe 3k candy hearts? which wasn't enough for me because i was buying several copies of all the books.
And I was bummed Pylot didn't come back. When i was going to complete my beanbag collection in January (the pylot beanbag was the last one i needed) i was hoping for the challenger and some of the loot to return in February. Luckily told me to not wait because the chances it wouldn't come back were too high. And apparently she was right. Plus i actually wanted to battle him, first time around i hardly had a battle pet, now I finally got a good battle pet i wanted to have a shot at him.
The item quality was higher than previous years though, the art was absolutely on point for the zombie shop, the love shop and those food items.
But overall feeling after the event: eh, more of the same.

The one form of Pylot who actually came back in Battle Week (not even during Survival! Pylot never came back for Survival) wasn't the one that dropped the beanbag.
Sucks.
I hoped there was a chance to see the whole lot of Pylot back. With the discussion on Items to put back into circulation (page 16/17) about bringing back challengers for it's matching holidays, I hoped there was a chance we would see pylot back because a lot of it's loot is close to impossible to get :(

I'm really holding out hope we'll see them in another battle week. all of them. the loot is just too rare and overpriced.
I hope we get another battle week and that Pylot and it's loot return. I don't know for other battle challengers their loot because I didn't always pay attention to loot. But I assume there is more out there that can use re-releasing.
But when i was completing my beanbag collection I looked through ALL of pylot's loot and came to a conclusion that there were just too many items that disappeared or became ridiculously priced for what they are. Pylot was 5 years ago we can use a new batch of that loot.

Pylots probably need the release worse than any other group of challengers. I'm not sure about some old challengers because I missed a bunch when I was on hiatus, but they seem to have a large amount of unbuyable loot.
and I are trying to get old collection (beanbags, plushies, etc) items back into circulation, which is why I've been working with the BAs to get old challengers back however we can. :) We're looking into how we can get Pylots back as well as the Luminaire plot challengers.
It would be fun to have a Throwback Thursday Challenger that has the chance to drop different loot :)
OMG! I LOVE this idea! I would clear Thursdays for this! :)
Are there enough retired challengers to do this weekly without repeating too often?
Anyway, glad to hear we may be seeing some old faces again! Maybe some old challengers could make an appearance during Masq? We did have that time warp plot a few years ago…
