My sleep patterns are...really weird.

I usually can't get to sleep before 7 or 8am, and wake up anytime between noon and 3pm. If I want to sleep at a 'normal' time (before midnight), I need to take some OTC sleep=aid stuff. Which right now Im out of (but thankfully will be able to buy soon).

At least I have my Xbox to play games on (at the moment its Bioshock), stuff to watch (Downton Abbey)...At this rate, I might even get the motivation to...CLEAN! swoons (Im not a big fan of cleaning, unless its part f any job that I may have...of which I have none ATM).

Same here. Often, I would go to bed at 10pm and ending up never falling asleep at all. So yeah, go to bed, don't sleep, go to college, and rinse-repeat. I can go on this way for about a week, maybe two if really into it. Otherwise, I have various symptoms such as nosebleed, dizyness and my eyes jump a lot.

I am not stressed .. it just happen ha ha.

I always have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. But these past few nights have been awful because I have a really bad cold so my nose is all stuffed up and I can't breathe so even though I want to fall asleep I can't.

I definitely know what you mean. I am a very small, stressed out person, which is probably why I can never sleep. I have subeta, and netflix, and friends who also never sleep to keep me entertained but theres really nothing like good ol' sleep.

Have you tried any natural remedies? Melatonin, or teas, or anything?

Sometimes I can go 30+ hours with no sleep...I know Ive gotten 'too far' when my arms/legs start to hurting...Maybe the muscles in them start acting uo?

I know the feeling D: The last time IW as sick, it took forever for me to fall asleep cause breathing would set off a coughing fit...Not fun.

I tried melatonin, and it didnt work :( As for teas, I dont know if theyd work since I havent tried them. Which ones would be good?

Chamomile is the go-to as far as a sleep aide. Valerian and Lavender can help put you to sleep as well. I would recommend visiting a local tea shop. If not, Teavana is a good place to go for tea. That's where I go - we dont have a lot of good local tea shops where I live. :c They have plenty of blends that can help with many of life's blunders, including sleep. But if not, Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Tea & Bigelow Sweet Dreams can be a good start. c:

  1. exercise a few hours before sleep time.
  2. don't eat heavy a few hours before sleep.
  3. just lie in bed eyes closed at sleep time even you are not sleepy. you won't feel super in the morning, but better than staying up all night.
  4. no napping during daytime.
  5. do boring stuff before sleep works too.

hope that helps :)

I have trouble sleeping as well and I usually read a good book or listen to music to help me sleep.

I dont know of any tea shops locally, maybe in a town 70+ miles away (but I rarely go there). Im guessing Adagio Teas would have it? Or are those brands you can find at WalMart?

I do do (eyes closed even if not sleepy). Sometimes it works. And listening to my Night Vale playlist helps. without it its kinda...hit or miss? Damn you Cecil...And at the moment heating heavy meals isnt a problem since there isnt much food in the house until I get my tax refund.

Welcome to NIght Vale is my 'msic' of choice. Ive found that if its notplaying while Im actually asleep, I have some fucked up dreams.XD

I mostly listen to game soundtracks myself to help me sleep. Dragon Age Inquisition or The Witcher 3 are my go to ones at the moment.,

All depends i suppose? Sometimes a video game helps (lately its Bioshock), maybe watching a movie or TV show (like Downton Abbey), or I put Welcome to Night Vale playing and read some fanfic on my phone.

And next time I go to WalMart I'll check for those brands (or types) of tea. If they don't work...Hey, at least I had some variety :D. And I think Ive heard of Chamomile being good for helping you sleep. :D also checks Adagio to see the costs

I really didn't pay attention to the soundtrack when I owned a copy of DAI...But I'll see if I can find a free way to listen to it. If its good enough, I might buy it :D (if theres an option to do that)

I know that feeling. Due to a mental disorder that I have, I have to take several medications to be able to fall asleep. If I don't take my medicine, I sleep for a grand total of forty-five minutes then up for hours on end. Insomnia sucks. I hope all goes well. =D

I second 's tea recommendation. I'm not a big tea drinker, but I find a warm beverage definitely helps calm me at the end of a day. Also try to steer clear of the technology when you're trying to sleep, it can alter your brain to make you think you're supposed to be awake when you're not. Maybe try reading a book before bed instead? Also hot baths/showers are another excellent way to wind down.

Your post reminded me of when I had been up for more than 24 hours due to a whole bunch of nonsense packed into one day, and when I finally got the chance to go to sleep I was asleep for 45 minutes and then woke up, haha! I was not impressed. Needless to say, I spent almost the entire next day sleeping.

I'm the same, I can't sleep before 2am, and even then I'm awake by 4am. Lately I've been going to sleep around 6am and getting up around 9am/10am, I have sleeping pills from the Dr but never take them as you feel groggy the next day :( <3
