Although I'm not huge on adding new pet colors and creating more work for staff when there are still many pets that have yet to be released in certain colors (e.g. though I've gone in a new direction with my pets, when I originally joined I wanted a Spectrum Tigrean and bought a potion to keep in my vault until they released it – nine years later and it's still not available), I thought I may as well make a suggestion thread because it's fun to hear other people's ideas!

When I returned to the site after a long hiatus, I loved seeing the new depth added to Subeta as a whole, but was especially struck by how the Sacred Lands had been given a much more distinct personality and schema. I love the general color scheme of the Saheric items and the kind of... mood? that the items have, and think the elements are there for a pose color.

Here are some examples of items that illustrate what I'm talking about:

The pets would have a kind of quiet, gentle, but proud/dignified vibe, and their colors would be inspired by the windswept desert landscape, moonlit sands, coastal fog, and pale jewel tones of local fauna.

So, like the Neela/Bhakoru? Well, yes, their common color palette is in a way what I'm talking about – it IS native Saherimos fauna, with aforementioned colors and dignified pose and all – but I also really like the idea of doing some sort of tie-in to the indigenous pre-Shinwa worship of Sand Spirits (though I know people kind of consider her one), especially given this:

Quote by Sand Spirit Bedtime Stories
The stories were written by the Wizard himself, and focus on a certain kind of sand spirit--a kind that often transforms into a kumos-like form under the light of the moon. Some people believe that the kumos was modeled after these spirits, whereas others think it&;s the other way around.

It would neat to see pets that aren't just mundane, common wildlife, but instead ones that remind people why this land is said to be sacred – that the spirits of the desert aren't just myths. The pet color could be made available through a nontraditional method (i.e. not a potion) like Galactic, Hydrus, Steamwork, etc, or the potion could require doing something special to obtain, like with Glade or Glacier. I know we have a few sort of... blessing methods for pet colors already, but it might be fitting to consider something more along those lines?

Since I've been away from the site for a while, I'm not sure if there's already been a plot centered around the Sacred Lands or the people of Saherimos, but if staff are brainstorming new site events/plots/whatever this could be something they could use as a springboard – having some sort of plot and then release the new pet color with it. Of course, all of this would take a lot of work to actually set in motion, and it just might not be feasible at this point! But if they haven't done something like that yet it might be something to consider. (EDIT: I guess the Blake Steele plot and the temple or w/e would have fallen under this? It's one of the plots I missed.)

Thoughts?

Seems pretty good to me. Hydrus is based off Omen Islands, Galactic is based off Coda Caves, and Steamwork is based off Ziara City (kinda), so why not have a Sacred Lands based pet color! Pet species that could get this color are neela, kumos, and kora. Maybe the Wizard could be responsible for this new color? ;)

I bet the Wizard would love to see the Sand Spirits come to life... maybe he should stretch out those magic muscles and get to work!

General FYI, I changed some of the wording in my first post – the mention of the Neela reminded/prompted me to outline a little more clearly what I had in mind when imagining this as a pet color. Obviously, a common Neela would already pretty much be a "Saheric" pet, but what I had in mind (is similar but) a bit more than just a recolor. I'd love to see a color that doesn't just incorporate the pale jewel tones of Saheric items, but also the mythology of the land. These pets are closer in nature to the Sand Spirits than to the local wildlife. Of course the vibe is going to be something spiritual and sacred, but a little less cheerful than Angelic (more composed, dignified, and nurturing?) and not as magical as Galactic. But, I haven't come up with something that I personally think would, as another element besides different colors/poses, help underscore the kind of spiritual nature of these pets. I'm very intrigued by the Sand Spirits, but there's not a lot of info on what they actually are apart from the descriptions of items in the Wizard's quest shop – and he came up with some of these stories himself! Though comparing the Shifted Sand Spirit to a Kumos at least helps with some design direction, I suppose.

But seriously, pet color or not, I'd love to see more on the kind of spirits that were worshiped + mythology before Shinwa got confined to Subeta to keep an eye on Maleria.

I absolutely love the Saheric color scheme, and would love to see it as a pet color, whether as a colorfill or a pose color!

old topic here for reference but locked, might have been before necroing was allowed in S&I

I'd support a saheric color, it is a pretty combination. I'd hope for a repose over a colorfill.

Yeah, I thought it wasn't unlikely that the color had been suggested before, but couldn't find an open topic. Which I suppose is alright, because it means a better opportunity to present a different take on what a Saheric (or maybe "Sacred" IS a more apt term to be playing around with if we want to reference both the location + the mythological aspect) colored pet would look like.

The palette is nice, but its variety of colors and the fact that common pets already use that specific palette makes me more enthusiastic about suggesting/seeing a repose rather than a recolor, especially considering the pushback the recolor suggestion received in that thread (for valid reasons). I could understand that to justify the color they'd have to introduce something other than simply the palette to the pet's appearance to distinguish a common pet indigenous to Saherimos from a Sacred/Saheric color. I WOULD be thrilled with just a recolor, but it doesn't seem as likely considering the arguments against it, plus I think a repose could offer more potential for some really neat.. stuff beyond just a new pet color. (Then again, the likelihood of a new repose is also relatively slim considering the amount of work it requires haha. But it's fun to think/talk about!)

AHHHH there's so many new experiments since I was here last I forgot about this one!!! Fortunately an already existing Saheric experiment doesn't pose as much trouble as the regular pets, since they only have scribble and chibi forms (e.g. how Experiment is pretty similar to Reborn pets but it isn't an issue).

But it is neat inspiration!! I liked the idea of plain gold jewelry on the pet like the Shifted Saheric Spirit has, and the ones on Experiment is what I was kind of picturing. This is like an imperfect, experimental version of what I tentatively had in mind for the actual color. The personality is different, and is kind of like... stuck in the liminal state between being an actual flesh and bone creature vs the desert sand itself. The sand/shifting is a pretty neat concept, but might work better (to this extent) with the experiment – it looks like it'd be more of a beastly mythical creature, while the regular pets in the color would be the more semi-divine spirits of the mythology. I love the way it's as though the pet is literally a part of the (sacred) land, though, like really integrated with the natural landscape despite being made in a lab.

Repose YEP! Colorfill nope...

Would love to see the color palette, especially.

No on pets made out of sand and half 'n' half color scheme (just like the experiment).

I was just thinking about this today! Glad other people share my idea. I think it would be great to have Sacred or Saheric pets, but I hope they have detail to them rather than just being a pink-to-blue ombre recolor. It would be cool if they had jewelry or something on them to make them look super regal.

i agree, this sounds like it could be a gorgeous color and a sort of regal/serene/powerful personality would be amazing. i know as a general rule the site avoids putting accessories/clothes/jewelry on pets, but i think, like the experiment 870, some delicate gold adornments (on horns, around the ankles, etc) would really make this a spectacular color.

i can just picture a sacred neela, dignified and humble all at once, somewhat ethereal with subtle wisps of sand blowing around it, strands of gold curling up its hooves and hanging from its horns... i think this color would be incredible.

ahhh what you described sounds so beautiful, just the kind of vibe i was imagining from this color.... i kinda figured some sort of general policy about jewelry/clothing/accessories on pets was likely, though even so, i think with experiment as a kind of precedent, giving pets simple gold bands of jewelry hopefully wouldn't be too much to ask for? even the darkmatter clawison was given a simple collar/earring that isn't on the common pet. but i'd totally compromise for 's idea! it reminds me of the the marez ashar gold paint/henna kit. not sure if there'd be conflict there as well because of the galactic pets, but if it were received better than the jewelry idea, i think it'd be just as beautiful. u
