I'm pretty sure you people who have been following the news recently know about the huge snowstorm that hit New York. Meanwhile, in other parts of the world, there is no water, some have floods, and others the temperatures are rising in an alarming rate. Yet, people keep doing nothing and ignoring the problems their actions bring. I keep seeing people cutting down trees that make the weather cooler, instead of planting more. I keep seeing people not making buildings and overall constructions with good enough materials that it doesn't go down with the smallest of pressures. Scientists say that green energy is ready to go. People are too greedy to let go of their money and power to help the world be less hard to live in.
I wonder if there is any reason at all to still have faith in humans? Every time I look around I only see the same mistakes from years past and nothing is being done to fix them.
You are not alone. I'm also very very woried about what's going on in the world.
Meanwhile a tornado touched down in Virginia...
Granted, we did have an El Niño this year, which was responsible for the very mild winter and record breaking warm fall temperatures on the east coast. But you're right - poor California was flooding and on fire at the same time. Meanwhile every businessperson is just sipping their coffee saying "hm strange weather we're having" looking out their balcony window from inside their temperature controlled multi million dollar houses.
I wish there was more awareness and access to green/eco friendly resources. I wish reduce, reuse, recycle was practiced more often. I wish people weren't so obsessed with consuming one-time use products and subsequently create literal mountains of garbage. I'm sure all this will come in time, I just hope it won't be too late.
Throughout geological history, temperature/climate fluctuation is natural. We are obviously just speeding up the process due to pollution and green house gases. Extinction is also natural during this process.
But yes, no faith in humans. Hopefully in 10,000 years we'll all be extinct :)
