May she RIP as one of the greatest literary minds of the 20th century. I loved TKAM as a classic book that taught the world quite a few lessons about itself.
- it was one of my favorites as well.

TBH, I never really liked the sequel, the book was perfect as is

I heard :( That was one of my favorite books in school. She was 89, so she lived a long life. May she rest in peace.
Oh gosh, one of my favorite books as a young adult. Wow. What a lovely long life she could lead though.
collecting - I bought that sequel/prequel then returned it after only having been able to read a few pages before realizing what a piece of utter crap it was!

RIP. How crazy it is that we just heard from her only in the last year.
I know everyone has different opinions, but in what ways is the sequel bad for you guys? Genuinely curious. There's cheesy-bad, bigot bad, poorly-written, disconnected from society, unintelligible... infinite types of bad. I suppose I should pick it up myself.
oh my god, no way. This is just...jesus, I can't believe it :( 2016 has been such a year of loss.
There's been some contention about whether or not it was actually written with her consent or not especially since she was in an assisted living home during the last couple years of her life. The sequel was also written earlier. It was an earlier manuscript so events in it contradict TKAM which was written later and revised.
I believe it was actually a first draft of the original TKAM that was found later and published by her agent and publishing house. Note that I haven't read it. I'm just going off information of what I heard from other news sources.
That said, I loved TKAM when I was a kid and regardless, it was an amazing book. The world lost a really amazing author, regardless of whether or not one liked Go Set a Watchman or not.
