So I picked an old and unpopular strain of virus from last year (deathworm). As far as I know, only two people are seeking this strain. Both of us made boards looking for bites, but nobody was available to bite. I vaguely remember from last year that if nobody bites me, then I would still get infected eventually, but it takes longer. Can anyone confirm if this is true? How long does it take to get infected without being bitten by actual users (It's been more than 24 hours already)? Or is my mind just somehow making it up?

If I'll have to get bitten, I might just switch to a new strain and stop wasting time :(.

I picked Brain Rot, have not been bitten that much and still haven't been infected. It's been over 48hrs since I selected my strain - I just so happened to be online when the news post was put up at 6PM on 2/15.

I was just coming to these boards to look in on this too since I think 48hrs is a little ridiculous to have to wait and wondered if maybe it was a topic for P&B.

I actually got the answer from another board

I&;ve checked with a programmer on that and it looks like the old viruses can take a few days (3 or more, depending on the queue) to advance to the first stage, but it should still advance on its own.
To be honest, I'm just not sure what to think of the whole situtation. If I don't get infected by the time the new strains are fully developed, I'll probably give up and be forced to pick something more popular :(.

Thanks! I got an alert for it finally at 1:20AM this morning. If I had known it would take this long I would have done my "new" virus first :(
