I'm trying to craft some specific items, but my layer cards don't seem to be working. I'll use a card for a specific layer and get some random layer. The first time it happened I figured it was a fluke cause I didn't know what I was doing, but it keeps happening.
Screencap for proof Selected: Blue Tincture + Wearable Token + Layer Card: Back right?
You good craftsman, you make shiny new
Blue Hair Chalk!
which is a head item, obvs. I've also gotten two corsets and some shorts. My ingredients are definitely disappearing so I'm pretty sure I'm doing it correctly... but am I not? Or is this a known issue? Help? D:
Notes: The Alchove Combination: Alchemy Token: Wearable + Blue Tincture + Layer Card: Head
that's how you make a blue hair chalk according to lodge. so it definitely looks like it isn't working as intended
Yeah, see, that makes sense... use a Head card, get a Head item... use a Back card, get a Back item... the hair is nice, but not when you want wings. You can't fly with hair, or a corset, or ripped up shorts. >_>
I'm not sure if it has been broken for awhile or not, I thought it was. you can make a bug report thread to make sure though :)
The other issue that's known but not well communicated is that you want to have only one layer card and only one tincture and probably only one token in your inventory when you go to make a specific thing. Don't ever carry multiples.
If you go with multiple layer cards/tinctures, it often glitches and unselects the radio buttons and ends up picking something randomly that you probably didn't want. This problem is solved if you only go with one of each thing.
Edit: and I see you went with more than one layer card so I bet that's exactly what happened.
I'm pretty sure I tried that... If I have one of each thing in my inventory (right now I have Black Tincture, Wearable Token, back layer card), do I actually need to click on each item in order for it to be selected, or will it select it for me by nature of just being there? Did that make sense? The reason I had more than one layer card was partly because I wasn't sure if it was actually selecting the layer card when I went to combine the items...
You have to click those items, yes, or it will think you don't want to pick any kind of a modifier item. Just make sure those radio buttons stay clicked! Literally wait a couple of seconds and watch them. If they don't disappear and stay clicked, you should be okay to send the request.
...I... don't seem to have any radio buttons? squints at her screen Where are they? (I am feeling awfully dumb right now. and also possibly blind)
Holy crap! They changed it! There used to be radio buttons and there aren't any more!
It looks like it auto-chooses if you bring them in, but maybe click them a couple of times to make sure they're highlighted?
Also, given this new interface that doesn't show radio buttons, I'd actually suggest filing a ticket because if you highlighted the right items and those items stayed highlighted it SHOULD HAVE given you the correct item. :c
Oh, phew! I was like WHY AM I NOT SEEING THEM OMG Okay, just to make sure: if the item is dimmed out, that means it's NOT selected, right? I can make the tincture go dim, but nothing happens when I click either the token or the layer card.
Correct, it looks as though if it's dimmed out it is not selected. But I would bring only one of each thing in, just in case. I'm finding it odd that it won't allow you to unselect the layer card, that seems strange to me. But that was the same for me. I guess it's assuming if you bring a token and a layer card, you mean to use them?
I doubt that's what happened because you don't even have a head layer card according to that screenshot.
Ooo good point I didn't even notice that.
Yeah given that, I'd say ticket. Because if it's defaulting to something you don't even have, that's a problem.
I think probably a bug thread is just fine. have you tried out the same combination and see if you get the same results?
Trying now, but ohhhh wait.
Are you trying for blue wings? Let me see if I can replicate. I think it might be the lowerback card, though.
I think if you have more than one layer card, then it will ignore ALL layer cards and just choose a random one. At least that was the bug before. We have pretty much been advising people to only have one layer card at a time when crafting or else you will get a random layer.

Yes, blue wings. Subetalodge says back, and I also just got white wings (having not clicked the blue tincture, but clicking the token and layer card each once). I'm experimenting right now.
Huh.
I went in with a blue tincture, back card, and wearable token and also got blue hair chalk. This is definitely ticket worthy. It shouldn't default to something random, it should bring up an error message saying this won't make an item.
Yeah this is really broken.
second try, I took in only a blue tincture, lowerback card, and wearable token and got a blue deadgrip bangle.
Let's not try to create anything else until someone answers a ticket.
Accidentally had 4 layer cards (all back) in my inventory (didn't realize it wasn't taking them)... took them all out so I only had one. Blue Tincture + token + single back layer card
You good craftsman, you make shiny new
Blue Raggedy Snake Skin Shorts!
T_T so in your modly opinion, is this ticket worthy, or should I just make a thread in the bug forum? I mean, they can't replace all the sp I've blown on tokens and layer cards trying to make this work, right? So it's better to just make other users aware of the issue?
EDIT NEVERMIND LOL
I thought that was the problem too, until I took a single layer card in each time and it gave me something wildly different. A back layer card shouldn't get me a wig item, and a lowerback layer card shouldn't give me a bracelet.
