Hey, so I've been a fan fiction writer for a few years now, but I still haven't managed to find a reliable beta, and I was hoping that someone here would be willing to lend a hand for double-checking tenses and for little typos.
My username on AO3 is Urge, and I've got four stories up right now. My main problem is that I'm writing them in different tenses, and all at the same time. This, of course, leads to annoying issues like tense switches that I don't count until two or three weeks after I've posted them. Which is problematic. Also, I'm the worst at comma splices, and I make little tiny typos like adding an extra 'o' or dropping a letter, because I'm usually writing at around 10pm after exercising so I'm not really logged on. Obviously, not my best plan, but it's what I can do.
What I was hoping isn't really for someone that needs to be doing a lot of heavy editing - just reading through before it gets published and highlighting my mistakes, and then I can go back and fix them. I don't want it to be a time-consuming process for you, I just miss a lot of them when I'm looking for mistakes.
Please hit me up if you're interested! I can't guarantee much in way of compensation, but I'd be willing to write you a fic in exchange for every five chapters reviewed? Or whatever in way of creative products that you'd like.
Thanks! -A
By this topic I have got also the feeling it belongs in the forum part art market.
I don't think that it should be in the art market at all.... it's about writing, not visual art, and I'm not trying to commission people to do anything for me. and beta-ing is, in and of itself, writing discussion. so. idk. but I think you're wrong.
Hey. I'd be interested in doing it. Umm....I guess the only thing I have going for me is that I got 31 on the English Portion of the ACT so I scored in the 5th percentile. XD
Also, I'm thinking of a career in editing, so this would be a start to see if I'd enjoy it or not.
yo, that sounds totally dope. my email is .edu">abasco.edu if you'd like to shoot me an email, and I can send back the basic outlines of the (five?) works that I've got in progress rn, and you could pick and choose which ones you want to edit.
btw - totally awesome score :D
