In trying to set up my dashboard, I've run into a couple of frustrations. Widgets I want are not there. Widgets I do want disappear because the other widgets above them are too tall. So I figured I add a few suggestions.

First, left and right widget areas. That empty border on the right hand side of the screen, just below the bookmarks tab, we could put some widgets there. Some widgets I want to see such as "Your Avatar" and "Active Pet". I like having these widgets, especially when I change my HA, so I can make sure my HA looks the way I expect it to. THis is especially important since I learned that I always need to re-assert my skin if I'm using one and I want to see right away if I forgot. Also, it might be nice to put the shoutbox on the right side. I like having the shoutbox but I almost never see it because the other widgets have pushed it off the bottom.

Second, can we make the dashboard ever so slightly wider or can you make it so that we can use a custom CSS to widen it? The width appears hard-coded in the HTML. I always have the Quests widget open. Saggitarius and Major Drills always end up taking 2 lines when they get into the double digits. Also, with regard to Shinwa, today it is saying "tomorrow at 1:50 pm" which takes 2 lines. I think we can drop the "at 1:50 pm" part because it's a midnight reset now, not a 24 hour reset. One of the problems of them going into double lines is that it pushes the widgets below off the screen.

The other thing is that there is a separate widget for "The Oracle". It might be nice to add her onto the bottom of "Quests" after Shinwa so we don't need 2 widgets. It would say "The Oracle: wants nothing." just like that widget does now. When I'm questing, I'm clicking so fast most of the time, I often miss the little blurb that tells me when the Oracle has a quest for me. That's why I keep her widget open, so I can see it.

Also, if any other quest-giving NPC were to give me an additional quest while I'm questing, I'm liable to miss that too so it might be nice if instead of "/ 10", it switched to "/ 11" or highlighted the quest-giver's name or added "The NPC: wants something" at the bottom. I often get an event that says "Extra Quest has expired" and I go "What extra quest?"

Third, I find the "Your Account" widget excessive for my needs but there is no suitable replacement. I don't really care how many users are online at any one time. Does the Status show up anywhere else but there? It says "Subeta: Octopocky" and then below that "Logged in as Octopocky". A little redundant isn't it? Admittedly, the second one has a link to my profile but I have the same link under "Personal" in the main menu. Also, is there a reason the link to my profile can't be in the title bar? What I really want instead is a little widget that shows sP on hand, CSC on hand, and sP in the vault. That generally tells me if I can afford something or if I need to do something.

And finally, "Special Currencies" has a lot of stuff which is mostly useless most of the time. I care about Steamwork Trinkets during Masquerade but not the rest of the year. Same with Vesnali coins. If I want to know what these are off-season, I can go to the vaults. So maybe this widget should be split into two, "Special Currencies" and "Seasonal Currencies" or maybe we should have a separate widget for each special currency or have the ability to indicate which currencies we want to see and which we don't. And again, when Carnival Tickets is 2 digits or more, it needs 2 lines and shoves the other widgets further down the screen. And Faded Memories always needs 2 lines because it's too wide as it is.

Hover the currencies in the Special Currencies widget, you can hide the ones you don't want to see and click Reset Widget on the bottom to make them all show up again.

I really don't think there's room for another sidebar, it would be too crowded plus where would the bookmarks go? I don't think there's really a need for most of this, you can always close widgets you aren't using. I have quests, Subeta: Darkrai and my HA open all the time and open/close the rest when I need them.

Thanks for the suggestion about special currencies. I was not aware that.

As for hiding the widgets, I can certainly do that. It is what I am doing now. However, it detracts from the user experience, just as having values broken up detracts from the look and feel. I know minor UI annoyances are not a priority and I'd offer to write the widgets I want myself but I haven't found a convenient widget-writer's guide.

forgive me if you already know this, but you can move the widgets. Like you can drag and drop them into the order you want. You mentioned the SB being at the bottom and I thought maybe you didn't know you could just drag it all the way to the top when you want to read it. That might help as well with some items being too tall at the top, etc. You could keep your HA near the bottom, for example.

Also, when you get an extra quest, you will have a little purple/lavendar question mark that pops up next to Buffs: on the Your Account widget. So that's another way to know if you have one, if you miss the event :)

Also, I notice today that "Carnival Tickets: 57" and "Saggitarius: 10 / 10" are each all on one line without me making any changes.

Also I notice that when I place my mouse cursor over "Logged in as: Octopocky", I now get a pop-up with my avatar, status, active pet, and so on! Has that always suppose to have been there? If so, thank you to whoever for making it work again.

At 1:50pm still wouldn't make sense because it's a midnight reset, like you said, and has been for a long time now. Personally I would prefer if Shinwa's quest was listed as 0/1 and 1/1 once you complete her bracelet.

And honestly I don't see how more widgets could fit on the right side of the screen, even underneath the bookmarks. Keith wants to do away with widgets when the site gets that mysterious layout change that we heard about/saw one time a few years ago and never again. I also disagree with that because I love my widgets and don't want them taken away.

Definitely not in favour - the empty border for me (on a 1600 x 900 resolution) is only about 82px wide (including the bookmarks), and I like it that way - having another widget area would just make that way too cluttered (and to be honest, I fail to see how that would work on the main news page, given the inclusion of the daily goal & current events on the right hand side).

While the width doesn't worry me personally, but I can see how having it slightly wider would help make it a bit neater (or cutting the time out from Shinwa, as like you said, it is pretty superfluous). I changed the font size for the widgets in my customCSS just to make them a nicer size, but some things still don't quite fit on one line.

Sorry, not in favour - I have my quest widget near the bottom, so it's not staring me in the face if I don't want to be doing quests, but I keep the Oracle near the top as otherwise I miss spotting her asking for something. She's a different style of quest giver to the others, so I think she should keep the separate widget.

If you have the "your account" one open, you get the little ? icon next to buffs, which you can click to see what the extra quest is.... although I will admit it could be clearer, as I've missed the ? before ;)
