I will do everything in the world besides what I'm supposed to be doing. I have a 15 pg paper to due by the end of the semester and haven't started yet. It's terrifying me. I keep telling myself this day you're going to go to the library and get this research done. But I never do, never feel like it. The longer I put it off the harder it is going t be later.

I sometimes work well under pressure, but this idk.

Who else procrastinates like crazy?

raises hand Procrastination is my modus operandi. The only way for me to get things done, is if I set myself up to do the things as I procrastinate something else.

I'm the same way. Though sometimes I force myself to do some of it and not procrastinate, but it usually turns out that I do a bit at the very beginning then procrastinate until the last moment on the rest. :P

i used to struggle like mad with procrastination, until i discovered that if i work in the university library instead of home i get everything done at 100% in a semi-timely manner. seriously it's insane. at home i take hours to do a single page, but if i'm far away from any possible distraction i work so fast and efficiently. ... my uni library is open 24/7 though, which means that i can procrastinate all day and then pull all-nighters which is no good. xD

my latest procrastination feat was a ten page psychology critical review which i did in five days, as opposed to the three months i had to do it. and one of those months was christmas break lmao.

i procrastinate so hard. and it doesn't even matter how many 'anti-procrastination' articles or videos i watch, i just keep procrastinating. in fact, sometimes i read/watch anti-procrastination stuff as a form of procrastinating...

i'm actually procrastinating right now...

i agree with Thespian, though, going to the school library does help a lot. and i love going to the library because it's a really pretty building~

Oh gosh, I think it's about 70 pages long? I do have a chapter done, so I'm actually a little bit ahead.

Usually if I buckle down I can usually get 10-15 pages done in a 3 days or so, but I was a history major so I'm used to doing 10-15 page papers normally though.

This is, of course, assuming that you have the actual research done beforehand though.

Have you tried just looking up random topic matter on what you have to research, and then organizing them?

Note that I'm horrid on procrastination. I've been known to do 10-15 page papers 2-3 days before they were due. XD

20 pagers though usually take me a week to finish though.

Also, ditto to going to the school library to work. It forces you to actually work since there's nothing else like, tv or whatever to distract you. If I'm in my room working on a paper I tend to get distracted by other things like the tv or books I want to read, stuff like that. But in a library with the research materials all I see is the computer and whatever I need to research so it forces me to actually concentrate.

I'm also a procrastinator. I like to keep putting it off and then I have to force myself to do it.

oh geez do I feel you all. I'm terrible. My memory is bad and I have difficulty concentrating, and I procrastinating something awful. Unless it's something that I'm 100% obligated to do for someone else, then I do it in a mad rush out of fear that if I don't do it ASAP it just won't get done.

Having rituals helps if I can get them started. Also having dedicated places to do certain things (like art, pleasure reading, studying) instead of my catch-all computer desk because here I will just distract myself and Not Do The Thing.

I'm terrible about this. One thing that's helped me a lot is making lots and lots of lists, and also using "pomodoro" technique--work for a set amount of time (I usually do an hour, lots of sources say 45 minutes), then take a timed break (usually 10-15 minutes). Combined with checklists that break up tasks into small parts, this really helps.

Going to the library as others have said is helpful too~ Something about that educational environment! Of course I'm in school to become a librarian, so there may be a little bias there...

I do a lot of procrastinating as well. It's really bad. I mean, I try to do some work, but then I get stuck, or I don't know where to start, and I can't get help with it, so I end up putting it off even longer, and then I have the thought that I have to get it done just eating away at my mind, and I panic when there's not much time left.
