Hello-ello, everyone! Long time, no see!
The name is Mori, short for my UN, and I'm a 24 year old anime, mythology, computer and book geek with a pretty lax (see: "absent") social life. I work full-time at a call center for a very popular phone company, meaning...don't expect any (or many) replies from me during the afternoon and evening hours. But late night/early morning works, aha.
I'm looking for some one-on-one RPers, literate ones, willing to RP over email. I prefer original plots and stories. Sorry, but I'm not up for any fandoms at the moment. To be honest, I use role-playing as an exercise and to work off some steam. I'm working on a book, but I need to take a break and just write for the sheer fun of it instead of stressing out about how the draft is working out. That, and I'm hoping this'll help me figure out a few things that I've been struggling with. Of course, I'll still have my rules, which I'll be listing later on in this post. ... Ahem!
As for original-plot genres, I prefer contemporary fantasy plots. Y'know, fantasy with a modern setting. Those are the ones my characters are most appropriate for, along with supernatural/paranormal, horror, and Gaslamp Fantasy plots (Harry Potter meets Jules Verne or something along the lines of Code Realize: Guardian of Rebirth).
I roleplay all my characters as humans or humanoid supernatural creatures. As the title of this post would suggest, yes, I will be using my Subeta pets, though right now some profiles are a WIP.
Now, I do have a plot in mind (it's actually the one I'm writing about). We don't need to use this one if you have something else in mind (I'm open to trying out anything else), but this is what most of my characters are meant for (this'll just be a quick summary, I'll reveal more details when asked)...
The setting is an alternate 19th/early 20th century, in another world. Centuries ago, when the Northern Goddess of Nightmares, Tähti, and Her sister, the Southern Goddess of Dreams, Yue, were destroyed, their respective churches created the Tsukuro Asylum, a religious militia that watches over the Collective Unconscious (also known as the Dreamscape or the Dreamworld) and protects humans from malicious supernatural beings known as Mengyan.
The Asylum has three different bases, one in each cardinal direction - the West (Machlud), the East (Hinode), and the South (Min'yue). Each base has one Baku (creations of Yue's whose purpose is to fight Mengyan) who act as Network Specialists; they monitor the Collective Unconscious and report any Mengyan attacks or other disruptions. Because only a few of the remaining Baku are available for combat, the Asylum employs Lucid Dreamers to fight against the Mengyan.
Also known as "Espers", Lucid Dreamers are individuals who are capable of "blocking" their personal dreamscapes, because they're aware that they're dreaming and thus have total control over their dreams. The Mengyan are unable to target them because of this. Unfortunately, there are very, very few Lucid Dreamers around, with a total of 49 of them working for the Asylum (there are likely more, but either they've been killed or they refused to join).
Similar to how the Lucid Dreamers work for the Asylum, the Mengyan are under the control of the Apostles of Kaamos, whose aim is to prove that humans will always succumb to their inner madness, regardless of what sort of lives they've lived or the choices they've made. The Mengyan do this by appearing in a human's dream and morphing it into "whatever they want to see" while, without the human's knowing, they twist and warp their madness. The human goes insane all the while believing that there is nothing wrong. Once they reach a certain point, they are even beyond the help of the Asylum and are killed as a mercy (lest they go out to wreak havoc or commit suicide). In other words, the Mengyan are parasites and cannot be pushed out of the psyche; they need to be destroyed.
Going back to the Lucid Dreamers, not only are they heavily trained in combat, be it hand-to-hand or weapons training, but they can also "project" weapons among other things when in the Collective Unconscious/shared dreamscape. For example, they can imagine sparks of fire or electricity, or various guns and swords and use them to fight. Some require an object from the outer world to channel/focus their abilities. These projections are only as strong as the heart of the Dreamer.
Aaaaand that's all I'll write for now. I'll explain more when asked, but that's the basic gist of it. The Lucid Dreamers and Baku are basically the "exorcists" of this world while the Mengyan are, obviously, the "demons". I would love to give this a shot, but if anyone has any of their own plots in mind or has any other suggestions, those also work for me.
Now, for characters, browse my Subeta pet profiles and you'll find their descriptions. Right now, I have Tsukihi, Hotarue, Kouun, Coyne, and Mahmoru available.
Now...FOR RULES 8D
No chat speak. Absolutely none o.e It's a pain in the ass to read.
Keep it PG-13, please. Profanity is fine, violence is fine, but nothing overboard, mmkay?
Romance is a definite okay! I always enjoy a bit of it in my RPs. But nothing like 'love at first sight'. Because that doesn't happen. And no slash, mxm, fxf... I have nothing against them, I'm just not comfortable RPing them.
Semi-literacy is a must! At least one or two paragraphs. No one-liners, please, and use proper grammar. I can understand a few mistakes; I've made a few in the post, probably. Please, don't make your replies a pain to read.
I have a life outside the Internets, y'know. A job and video games and all that jazz, so don't expect me the always reply within a day or an hour, but for the most part, it's within my power. And on the occasion that this does happen, I don't mind if reminders are sent to me, since I can be pretty forgetful and think I replied to a message when I...didn't xD
I'll RP over sM and e-mail, but to be fair, I much prefer e-mail. I am willing to comply, of course.
I like to chat during my RPs. Y'know, OOC and all that. I like to goof off, talk, get to know who I'm RPing with... I also like to treat the role-play (as much as I love it, as serious as they usually are) as my own Mystery Science Theater 3000/Cinematic Titanic/Rifftrax, usually taking jabs at my own characters. If you are not the type of person who enjoys such conversations, then leave. Now.
If you've read the rules...um, if you've read them...tell me what your favorite video game is! Mine's, of course, SMT: Persona 3.
Is that it for the rules? I think that's it!
