Hello everyone! I'm currently in the process of becoming a transfer student, to a four year university. I'm currently in community college, to get my associates. I was just wondering if anyone is going through, or already went through the university process?
I transferred from one four year university to a different four year university back in 2011. It's been a while, but I'd be happy to try and answer any questions you may have :)
Hi! I hope all is going well with the transfer. I transferred my first year from an expensive college (35k+ a year, lived on-campus) to a cheaper college that was still in the same state. I now commute (around 35-45 minutes) 3-4 days a week. I am technically a senior, but my credits say junior. lol.
I would suggest mapping out your course schedule for the next 2-3 years so you can graduate on time. I didn't do that and I am kind of all over the place. Even though I'm technically a senior and been in college for almost 4 years - I still have a year and half to go. You can talk to your adviser about that. AND Make sure all your credits transfer! It is also said that your first transfer semester, your grades won't be as high. Just due to the transition period. So be prepared for that. And remember when you transfer, your GPA doesn't. You start from a clean slate. I was pissed that my 4.0 didn't transfer haha! OH well.Hello! It's a little late, but in case I can still help: A feeeew years ago now, I transferred from a community college to a 4-year from which I hold my bachelor's degree. If I can help you out at all let me know!
The most important thing off the top of my head is to make sure your credits will transfer! Keep in contact with your academic adviser at your community college (even if you've never talked to them before--they're there for you and know how all this works). Look carefully at your prospective 4-year college's rules for transfers; they probably even have a directory to see how your CC credits translate to their coursework.
Those are my first thoughts, feel free to reply/ping/message me with any questions!
