This is not a terracotta colour thread. If you want that, go make another colour thread. Terracotta is orange, not brown. Please do not bring other colour suggestions into a single colour suggestion thread.

Looking at our pets, we really don't have a true warm brown colour of any sort. We have Marsh, but that's more of a murky mud colour at best. There's also Hydrus, but that's brown plus a bunch of stuff on the pet. It's not just a nice, pure brown.

I'm thinking something more along the lines of the following (will be putting in a spoiler to avoid a long post):

EDIT: ...seeing as images posted except from a few specific sites are breaking at the moment, I will be linking the images to everyone (NOT my method of choice, but can't do much else about it) XS

I can't do pet colour fills, so this little dachshund is exactly what I had in mind for a colour. A nice, warm brown all over with brown or golden brown eyes.

The above warm, rich, gorgeous brown is a far cry from what marsh is supposed to represent - muddy, dank, dark, yucky:

Apparently using Subeta Images also break XS Marsh Montre

The twain does not meet. You don't find gorgeous, rich brown wood tree colours in a marsh. This is why overlaying a marsh with a colour of choice won't work.

[center Wood Colours[/center]]

Striped Mahogony Striped Mahogany

Cuban Mahogany Cuban Mahogany

Cedar Cedar

Cherry Cherry

Beech Beech

It would just be a fill for the common pose, the fur colour would just be a more true brown over the muddy, murky brown of the Marsh that we have currently or the sea-type colour of the Hydrus.

My faves would be between one of the two mahoganys or the cedar. The warmth is beautiful.

Cherry and Silver colorfills made a lot of sense because we didn't have those colors already. We have Marsh pets though, which are brown, and I feel like wanting another plain shade of the same color is something an overlay should be used for.

When you say "warm brown", I think of something more like this. All of your examples are more red than brown.

I'd be cool with another brown colorfill (I supported the gingerbread/mocha suggestion, too) but those deep reds do nothing for me.

Brown can actually be fascinating.

I want a gingerbread colorfill with cream/white accents.

Also, pretty sure Marsh actually is a pure brown.

I don't remember what people wanted for brown for mocha, was it close to Marsh? Mocha in paint color is pretty much all over the place, so it can go to something very original to pretty much the same shade as Marsh.

The gingerbread I'm pretty sure I supported but don't the plushies have white accents at least? There's nothing wrong with brown but I don't think we really need multiple similar shades of any color personally

Yes, but Marsh isn't woodsy. It's dark, dank and sometimes smelly. It also has green to it which is also another huge difference and is a brown-grey. This would be straight up brown. It's something that we don't have and is much different to Marsh.

I would love a red/warm brown color! I think it would fit in very well as a colorfill.

How about pets with just a wood panel down the middle of them like the old cars...

People could've used overlays for Reborn pets for the solid red, but people wanted a potion. This is no different a situation. A nice, warm, wood brown colour would be wonderful. Marsh does not come close to a warm brown colour. You can't overlay marsh with a warm brown. It doesn't work that way. Marsh is mud brown with swamp water green mixed in. Not a lovely warm, solid wood colour brown.

That's like... literally the entire purpose of overlays, really.

Edit: Not that I think this needs to be an overlay, but the option's there and that's exactly why it exists in the first place.

Harvest already has the warm brown tones - is that the sort of colors people are looking for as a colorfill? Like, chocolatey?

Poked around for something like that on Colourlovers:

(And I don't get the Marsh hate - wetlands are wonderful, as are the choco-mint colored pets; real marsh wetlands are wonderful green places that get a bad rap while serving as the planet's filtration system - not a cartoonish evil gross place).

Marsh is my favorite colorfill, but I'm not opposed to a lighter brown either. I'm not opposed to a lot of other colors either.

I like the third and fourth color the best.

Marsh does have a grey tint to it and the fact that there is green added.. There really is not a basic color that is just brown and I think we should have one. The shade might need to be voted on though as I personally like pecan brown a lot.

not hating on the marsh, just saying it's not a pure brown. I live right next to a wetland and I love the place.

Harvest is more orangey than brown.

I like the idea of a true brown colourfill - marsh has too much green for me (I dislike green), and while harvest is good, the leaves & all the autumnal decoration on the pets don't always fit when you just want a nice brown colour for a particular pet

I think it'd be cool if it were one of the unique pose pet colours and each species was a different type of wood. Otherwise I'm not incredibly interested in a brown colour, but if other people want one, I'd support it.
