Both of my cats were born outdoors, so only one of the actually got use to the litter box. Because of this, we let both of them out so the other wouldn't get jealous when the other went out to go to the bathroom. All fine and dandy.

Wednesday night at about 6, my dad let the younger of the two, Grazey, out to go to the bathroom. It's been three days now, and there's still no sign of him. We've looked at local shelters and animal control but there's nothing of a cat that fits Grazey's description.

While he was the family cat, he was very attached to me, and I to him. He would often sleep next to me when I was on the couch and he would follow me to bed most nights and cuddle with me for a bit (before I would ignore him because he had a very loud purr and it was very hard to fall asleep when he was purring). He loves belly rubs and would let me kiss him on his forehead. My parents would joke that I was the love of his life, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't too far off.

I know there's a chance he'll come back, but there's coyotes and foxes and other feral cats around and it's been below freezing all week. As the days go by it's harder to think positive about it.

I just really miss him.

Hey! I don't know if you've tried some of these things, but here's some suggestions: Try putting out a carrier or live trap with a favorite blanket of his or an article of your clothing (something you've worn at least once since it was last washed, so that it smells like you!) If he has a favorite kind of treat, try putting one or two of those in the carrier too. Do a thorough search of everywhere in your (and your neighbors', if they'll let you) yard(s). Look under/inside everything--cats can fit into some pretty small spaces--and don't forget to look up into trees/onto roofs as well.

Places like the SPCA's website and others probably have more tips. I hope your cat finds his way home soon.

they/them/theirs, please.

Is your cat castrated? because if not it could be possible that he´s out for a lady. I hope he´ll come home to you ;)

Thanks you guys. (And yeah, he's neutered already...)

Still been five days and there's still no sign of him.

This has happened to my outdoor cats plenty of times. It seems to be cat season, so they are outdoors for longer periods of time. I would suggest putting catnip, treats, foot, toys all around your house. It MAY cause other outdoor cats to come around, and hopefully your cat too!

Best of luck, and patience is just the best option. I would also suggest putting a microchip in your outdoor kitties for reasons like this.

Have you checked your local SPCA? I work in the back of an animal shelter and there are so many cats that come in and no one ever comes looking for them, and usually by the time they do they cat has been adopted out or put down. If your cat was picked up by animal control and wasn't acting friendly you pretty much only have a week to find him.

Besides the other suggestions already made, have you posted to your local Craigslist? Let all the local veterinary offices/SPCAs/Humane Societies know? Put up posters on local buildings/light posts/etc.? I really hope you find your kitty. I have two of my own and I would be lost myself without them.
