So this is a weird question and I don't know if anyone can help me figure it out. It's more personal than like "How do I do this thing" here on Subeta, so I apologise if this shouldn't be here. But I am completely baffled.

So, I'm working on my hoard (Less than five hundred to go wooooo) and I keep track of the things I have and the things I need with a custom list on SubetaLodge. Before I add things to my shop, I make sure they're on my list. Sometimes I mess up, or I take things out, and my count gets a little mixed up. Last night, I finally turned off blonde mode and realised I can organize my shop by itemid and compare it to my list to see what SubetaLodge thinks I have in my shop that I don't really have in there.

I figured out that the bottom of page three on my shop is the bottom on page ten on SubetaLodge. I spent some time, found a CW and a few other things that got put elsewhere, and finally made it to the end of my shop and the end of SubetaLodge exactly in sync, same item, same row, etc.

But then I looked at my count and I am still five off. My shop claims I have 44524 items. SubetaLodge informs me that I have 44529 items. How the hell am I off in numbers, when I compared the two (almost) side by side?!

Are any of your items duplicates?

No they are all unique. (Doubles don't take up additional space anyway)

If you were looking at total items, and not unique it would screw up the numbers.

The best way to do it is to go line by line and see where its wrong.

I literally did that last night. Subetalodge is still saying I have 5 more items in my hoard than I actually do in my gallery.

The only thing I can think of would be to clear your Subetalodge list and input every page in your shop by source code

SubetaLodge has at least one duplicate in my hoarder list (Autumn Leaf Earrings) so maybe there are a few duplicates that have been counted multiple times. Otherwise no idea. :c

if you got the time and energy, you can use excel program to compare them using vlookup function.

or take the list from subetalodge into excel, and use remove duplicate function to check if it has duplicate.

What I did last night was split my screen, so I had my shop open on half of it, and SubetaLodge on the other half. Overly large image here

It matches all the way to the very end, so unless there is ... I literally can't even finish this question any more because in doing the math, 742*60=44520 and I have four on my last page. So the items shown match my shop.

What the HECK is causing the NUMBER to be different on my widget?!?!?!? I feel like I need to take this to the forums over there, since it's obviously something on their end.

1. put subetalodge list on column A and shop list on column B.
2. in column C, specifically cell C1, enter formula vlookup=(item, search range, column index number, approximate match). what you should enter probably looks like this, VLOOKUP(A1,$B$1:$B$44524,1,0).
3. double click that little black dot on the bottom right of the cell to copy the formula to the of the list.
4. anything that has match will return the item name. any mismatch will return error.
5. go check on the error items.

i actually use libreoffice calc, but excel should be about the same. [/spoiler]

I'm pretty sure I know what's going on.

On Subetalodge when an item gets changed - the name changes, an item retires, it gets put in a new category, etc, it does not get removed from your list if it is already ticked off (green).

Since this is a hoarder list (i.e. all items), then it must have been an item that was duplicated (like those damned earrings) and then deleted when it was discovered to be a duplicate.

Usually those rare items 'disappear' from the list, so you can't find them to unselect them, but they remain in your count.

The only way to permanently fix the problem is to clear the list and restart, but I'm pretty sure you don't want to do that! I sure wouldn't.

Yeah, I feel like this might be the case. I just found out (Through skimming the boards on SL) that the kaffir lime item from the floating market was recently renamed. So, if renamed items don't get removed from the list, then that must be where this discrepancy is coming from. It's super minor, it doesn't really matter, but it still sucks.

Thanks so so much to everyone for their advice and input. 200+ shop pages, I'm not going to delete and readd everything. It's not going to matter for much longer.

So, I don't know what the issue is causing this but I can tell you a bit about things...

When items have name changes we actually change the item name, not add another item with the new name. Same thing with spelling corrections. No new items are added.

As to the autumn leaf earrings, the damn things are in the subeta database twice, each with a unique item ID number. Thus, we cannot get rid of the extra one until subeta removes it from the database.

Other than that, IDK and I am sorry. It is going to bug me now.

When I had to find things like this, though admittedly not a checklist of 45K+ items, I have checked the bottom item of my checklist on sbl against the corresponding line on here. That way I was at least able to narrow it down to a section. Maybe that is what you did and I am misunderstanding.

Yes, that is exactly what I did. Three pages in my shop (Sorted by itemid, since alpha doesn't match between the sites - do you know why?) is ten pages on SL. So I went through them both last night side by side. I -DID- find some items that had gotten marked and put elsewhere (A CW, and two or three items that I accidentally put in my wardrobe instead of my gallery) but now the difference is located SOLELY on SubetaLodge.

Here is the last page of my list apologies for the scribbles. Writing with a mouse is hard. But anyway, it shows that SubetaLodge itself thinks that I have 5 items in my hoard ... but also it doesn't show those 5 items.

Oh, I almost never trust the number on the widget :x terrible to say, I know. We have never been able to figure out why it says xxxx/0 so, yeah. When you are on one of the pages of items in your checklist, how many does that say you have? It should be like... 1-25 of xxxxx

When I'm on the main page, it shows the total number as being 53033 items. I have it set to list, as the name might suggest, all official items. Rarity 1-195, so there are no custom items. It shows the number that I have as 44536, when it should be 44531.

44531 is the number of items in my gallery, in my hoard. 44531 is the number of items ACTUALLY in my list, when I'm looking at the items I own. 44536 is the number the widget shows me. WHAT ARE THESE FIVE MYSTERY ITEMS?!?!?!?

Here is my gallery if you're really bored. The items in my hoard and the items in my list DO match. It's the widget that's wrong and like I said, it's not ... a super big deal. But I AM pretty sure it's a new thing. Last week I was five items off (again lol) but those were all accounted for - two items that got added to my wardrobe, one that got moved to my shop, and my discount card which lives in my inventory and gets added every time I mass add after quests lol

When I made the decision to blow my millions and get as close to the achievement as I could, two days ago, that's when I noticed that my miscount jumped a bit. After going through my shop essentially line by line last night, I was baffled to find the count on the widget was still wrong.

It really not a big deal, it's not a deal breaker for me. I still love SL. But if you want to investigate, well I'm not going to stop you.

So, here's the thing. I got to page 39 and decided to see how many pages there were total. ha,. hahahhaa
