Just a few thoughts which others mightn't agree with -

Rotten Rogues Guide to Antiques - We don't have a Rotten Rogue any more so perhaps this items could be turned into a straightforward Guide to Antiques.

Rotten Rogue Plushie - Perhaps this could be retired.

Pro Cyde Pin - This was from the first restock war we ever had. I don't think Cydewinder is around any more.

Keith Vs Cyde (book)- This relates to that long ago restock war. Perhaps it could be retired.

Im With Keith Pin - Is this really relevant now?

Ontra Shampoo and the few other pet items from the Grooming Parlour - This shop has become a Human grooming shop. Maybe we could have a new pet care shop and the pet items moved there.

I wouldn't mind retiring these items.

Don't agree about the Ontra Shampoo, if only because I interpret it as "Ontra Themed Shampoo" and I don't like the thought of yet another store for yet more grooming equipment. I like how items are generally sorted now.

Sorting by human items/pet items opens big a can of worms, too. What else would stock in that pet care shop? Just the shampoo? Waste of a shop. Should items like the Demi Brush and the Ruffie Leash Lasso be added in, the leash which would have to be taken from the Battle shop? Where does the line get drawn between "items themed after pets" and "actual pet items"? Would we have to make other shops to separate out the pet-named items from the non-pet named items? I think it's fine the way it is.

I quite like the outdated items as relics of Subeta's past. I'd much rather keep them and then have subetapedia articles about former characters and old events in Subeta's history. I find it much more interesting to have the evidence of how the site has grown and moved on, rather than just erasing it because it isn't relevant any more, especially when it comes to things from Subeta lore.

But what about the Nostalgia? it's part of the past.. It would be better to change their description and to tell the story behind the character/event.

The pet's grooming items should stay tbh..

The Grooming Parlour's description doesn't really fit what the shop has become, though. "Get the items your pets need to be shiny and spiffy" Maybe Waradors and Harvesters could wear makeup although you wouldn't be able to tell with a Harvester. :)

PS: I double checked the Ontra Shampoo description. It's definitely for washing Ontra Fur.

I'd rather see the shop description edited or modified than a whole new shop created for a subcategory of items we already essentially have a shop for.

The OP is very vague in some of the points but if you're only talking about retiring these items, fine. But I don't agree with altering them in any way. Just because someone/some character isn't "around" anymore, doesn't mean they have to be erased from Subeta's history.

As for the shampoo, I don't think it's necessary. They could change the description in the shop from "Get the items your pets need to be shiny and spiffy" to "Get the items you and your pets need to be shiny and spiffy"

Perhaps the Ontra and Clawsion shampoos could be turned into human shampoos in Ontra and Clawsion shaped bottles. We could then have some more shampoos in pet shaped bottles. These could be for Subeta's children.

I'm not sure how the Clawsion Dentures could be adapted, though, when the description says - "If your Clawsion ever loses their choppers here is a handy replacement" :)

When it comes to making Subetapedia articles about old characters and events this would be fine for the Rotten Rogue - we could learn why she no longer robs us of our items. I think this would be a bit awkward for Cyde, though. He was a real person who used to be an admin on here. I double checked the Cydewinder account and it's definitely inactive - going by the HA, he's been gone for years.

The Rotten Rogue may not be around anymore, but she is apparently still a NPC.

FOR ALL WE KNOW, SHE COULD BE THE ONE BEHIND THE FRAGMENTIZER. SHE MIGHT BE THE ONE UNLEASHING LIZARD MINIONS.

It's like Thatcher Mordell or Princess Liara, they're NPC from the past, but they should eventually come back. I want to learn about the lore behind the self-proclaimed queen of the sacred lands and her hate towards Shinwa.

It would be nice to know what the Rotten Rogue is up to now.

What got me thinking about the Grooming Parlour is that everything suggests it was originally meant to be for pet grooming but only 3 items to use on pets were ever added to it. (Lice Repellent can be suitable for humans and pets). If the shop description was changed to Luck's suggestion of "Get the items you and your pets need to be shiny and spiffy" it needs some more pet grooming items in there.

I feel like this would work better as two separate threads.

1)Plot/NPC item retirements/renaming suggestions

2. What to do about grooming products/grooming shop

I don't really agree with retiring things that aren't currently relevant. that's like saying History class isn't required because that isn't relevant any more. old characters and events are a part of the site, even if you have no clue who they are.

as for the grooming parlor, there's no need to make two separate shops. maybe an update to the description as stated, but the trend has been closing down smaller shops and combining them into larger ones.

We now have an Antique Shop, so the Rotten Rogue could clearly be the proprietor with a Guide. And while she may not literally steal items from users anymore, she certainly charges an obscene amount of sP for her items so folks could still think of her as 'rotten' even though she has ....'reformed'...yes, reformed that's the ticket. Maybe we'll learn her given name, or at least the name she's going by now, if she gets this post.

The distinction between petgrooming and user-grooming (I dunno if all users are playing humans as opposed to the other peoples of Subeta) is weak to my mind. There's lots of food on the site that looks like human food and not petfood. There is no game mechanic for feeding food to users or HAs. There's no mechanic for washing your pet. And your Harvester would know she/he is wearing the lipstick and enjoy it for how pretty it is, even if nobody else gets to see it, not even you.

The Cyde button is hilarious, because it's still not activated. For that joke alone, it's still worth it to me.

Those items I mentioned are the only three things designed for pet grooming in the shop. If we aren't going to have any more grooming stuff purely for pets it seems odd keeping those three things in there.

nooooooo, it's history! just incorporate them into Subetapedia if we need to....

As I said in an earlier post it could be awkward putting Cyde in the Subetapedia because he wasn't a fictional character. He was an admin here who hasn't been around a very long time.

I know who Cyde is, I suppose I was mainly referring to the Rotten Rogue. Regardless, I agree with & , plus it's not like new users are going to be up in arms about who Cyde is. Some of them probably don't even know who Keith is.

For some reason I feel like this isn't unlike the brief stint we had with custom items which have since been altered to not reflect the users who commissioned them. Examples:

Some of those users aren't around anymore but their items are. I know this is a little different but to me it's in the same category.

As always, though, it's the staff who decides what to do. I'd like to see more pet grooming items in the Grooming Parlour because this is, after all, a pet site.
