Okay so an anon said they'd like to see a pet chat thread here... so I'm making one :D They said it's like a scripted RP where you play as your pets. Sounds like fun to me! (Although I don't know what the "scripted" bit means, or who scripts it, so maybe someone can explain?)

I'm not quite sure how to start out, but I'd be interested in playing as my pet Balloonatic, since I'm still developing him, and all my others are mostly fan pets or I already have their story worked out. Balloonatic is a Nostalgic Dillema who dreams of being an inventor. Trouble is, all his inventions involve balloons, and they tend to be just really complicated ways of doing simple tasks XD He's a very friendly fellow, though, and he really does like to help people! He just gets a little too excited about things. Especially balloons. (Gee, that sounds familiar...)

I'm not the anon but, as someone who went on the old neopets pet chats (anyone remember when it started out as Lupe Chat haha?) literally all the time during 2006-2008, this makes me so happy :) If things are still how I remember, basically rather than paragraph rp, it's script rp. You just do random stuff as your pet. For example:

Lyxander: walks into the pet chat on his hind legs, acting as though he's afraid to get his front hooves dirty looks around and wonders if he's here alone

ooc: If you want to chat outside of your character, you use "ooc:" as in "out of character", or you can write "me:" or just write it above where your character talks rather than below, at least, that's how I always did it haha. Back in the day it seemed like you could use the same character for multiple RPs at once, like doing 1x1 but in a public place, and you would just have separate replies for each person. (If the anon who suggested this is thinking of the pet chats in a different way, let me know! It's been ages since I was there)

Ooh haha I didn't know they were still around at that time :D Nice. Small question, is your character as a subeta pet or are they in a human form? If they're as a human I can change it so mine is human too xD

Lyxander: notices and looks at them as they approach Oh- I haven't seen a cat, sorry... sympathizes because he has a cat too I could help you look though!

I don't recall any rp type of threads on the pet forum before xD, but probably because I joined at the end of 2008. I do just miss any general and casual threads about pets/characters/ideas/crazy talks (met a few of my best buddies over those chat threads on the pet forum well before the spotlight was invented).

Sadly I'm pretty bad at roleplaying, and I wouldn't want most of my pets to be near anybody (because they are either dead already or are horrible little shits)...But I like the idea, and I might come back if I can think of any thing :).

I have only a handful of Pets I'd let join (like Hering for example, he is one of the few that isn't completely nuts xD), but it sounds like super cute idea, I wish everyone fun roleplaying! (:

BALLOONATIC: waddles in, squeak squeaky balloon noises Did I hear someone's looking for a cat? She... doesn't like to claw things, does she? is very nervous around sharp objects

awesome :) yeah :D That's my preferred way of RP too.

and to the others, you guys should join :) It doesn't matter if you think you're not good at RP, we all have to start somewhere.

Lyxander: Oh, sure. wonders what happened to scare the cat briefly before introducing himself I'm Lyxander. decides to drop to all fours so he can look for Summer better, when he hears the squeaking from Balloonatic approaching looks towards them Yeah, their cat ran off, we were about to look for it. looks back up at Lee

Akenrahn: Is gleaming with energy as he comes bouncing in, tail waving happily from side to side & nose trailing across the floor with great curiosity. It's been a while since his last adventure, and the brand new environment is making him very excited.

((Note: Akenrahn is mute, and all of his interaction is based on actions. He understands speech & so though, so that's not an issue. (Not sure I've got another character who would function in this setting, so that's why the impractical paralix is my first choice.)))

((In other news I miss this kind of RPing so much - it used to be my primary way of character development. Lost my RPing partner to disinterest & now I'm on my own. "orz))

lee: -tilts head curiously in a puppy-like way as they look at balloonatic. evidently very curious- well, no. unless she get angry she's very docile. -smiles curiously- i never saw a living balloon. you're cool, though! -doesn't seem to mind how... strange that sounded. looks back at lyxander- lyxander... i'll remember that! i'm good at remembering names, anyway. -looks around, then back at lyxander- should we start looking, then?

folie: -raises a curious eyebrow at akenrahn. never saw anything like him before- ... -stares at him intently for a few seconds, then proceeds to sit down. takes out a notebook and pen from his coat's pocket. starts sketching akenrahn, occasionally glances in his direction-

Akenrahn: Twitches an ear & perks up at being noticed. Without thought he lets his jaw drop open into a dog-like smile before trotting over to investigate Folie. He circles him several times in a curious, not-threatning manner, before coming to a halt right in front of the boy. There he quietly lays down on the floor, happy expression aglow on his face, tail still going strong, elegantly gliding from side to side.

((/watches with satisfaction. man i missed these kinds of threads so much ahahah))

folie: -chuckles airily, puts the notebook aside- hey there. -puts his hand in front of akenrahn's face, supposedly expecting him to sniff it. picks up the notebook again and sketches some more. doesn't look at him- and just where did you come from, mh? -seems very relaxed, as often is the case when folie is around animals. quite a contrast to when people are around, really-

((I think I was too much of a hermit to ever post on them back when they actually were a thing, so I used to stick to sMail/IMs. Still, it's all the same. You kind of grow too serious, and then forget how fun it was until something comes along to make you remember ... thank goodness you're almost guaranteed not to be the only one! :'D))

Akenrahn: He eyes the hand in front of him, then eagerly looks over to the pencil & notebook. Something about how the blank canvas fills up with lines, which then in turn evolve into shapes & figures, seems to mesmerise him, and after a long moment of watching he suddenly makes an impulsive move, slamming his paw right down on the paper (lightly enough not to knock anything down, mind you). The dragon then casually pulls his paw back into mid-air, revealing a chalky print in several matte colours where his touch has left its mark. He looks intently at the page before shifting his attention to the boy, jaw dropped into an open grin. He seems quite pleased with his attribution to this new work of art.

lee: -grins enthusiastically- sounds like a plan! again, thank you so much! -walks off towards a leafy tree and, after looking up at the top, starts climbing it nimbly. figures that they would get a better view from a high place-

folie: -taken aback for a moment. looks at the pawprint, then at akenrahn and then back at the pawprint. smiles sheepishly; wasn't expecting that- It's beautiful! gives off personality. -flips the pages until reaching a blank one. puts the notebook on the ground in front of akenrahn- you like drawing too, huh?

Akenrahn: The paralix's tail picks up speed as it bolts from side to side, and bringing forth his paw again he gently taps the paper. With each touch he leaves a print in a different collection of colours, all chalky & in the hue of bright pastels. He might have spent too much time around art supplies ... but judging from the great amount of focus gleaming in his eyes he seems to very much be enjoying the creative process. After covering the page in a lively forest of pawprints the dragon nuzzles the notebook back towards Folie. Seems like it's his turn to add to Akenrahn's piece.
