Can there be a shorter clearing time for new accounts that are accessed for less than a week (or even less than a few days)? It's pretty annoying to see a good username or pet name with an account that is 3 months, 5 days old and was last seen 3 months, 4 days ago.

I support this. I have seen a few accounts like this actually.. Even if the name isn't something I personally wanted. IT just makes no sense to let the account sit there for an entire year when they have literally only played a day or two and haven't been on since they created the account.

No support. New account or not, the name belongs to that user fair and square until they've been gone for a year and I don't think we need special rules just because the user created and immediately abandoned an account.
I feel torn on this. I do see where you're coming from.. but at the same time I kind of feel like if that new person picked a name that someone else wanted.. the chances are probably good that the older player could have gotten the name whenever they wanted. I can't see the chances of a newbie snagging a super good name off of a popular account clearing on their first day? But even if they are newer and active I could see how that would kind of suck. BUT on the other, other hand, sometimes i see stuff like that and I wonder if it's not someone or their friend just hanging onto pets on an 'illegal' side account. so.. idk.
ehhhhhhh i'm not sure i support it. i mean on one hand sure, if someone created an account and then got immediately bored it's annoying to wait one year until the names clear knowing that the owner is likely never coming back. but on the other hand, it's not fair because everyone gets one year before their names clear, and why should it make a difference whether the account is six years or three months old?
-wiggles cane-
You know, back in my day accounts only cleared ONCE every 6 months to a year (once it was TWO years) if they were inactive for a year.. none of this daily nonsense. Now it should be even shorter?
If anything, I think this daily stuff needs to get cut down to once a week or month. It can't be very promoting for inactive users to come back to an account that'll potentially get gutted if they log in 5 minutes late. Some wiggle room might not be a bad idea, because shit I know I wouldn't come back.
I don't agree with this. There's no proof that the person wasn't going to come back later before the 12 months were up. I join websites often then forget about them, only to remember a few months later and come on again regularly. Even if everyone knows they're not coming back, it should still be the year long wait, like every other account.
Yes! if the "good" username and pet names were really that good, why didn't anyone take it sooner? Why wait until a new player joins to complain about it haha
As a huge snob about my pet's names, I really want to love this idea. It pains me to see such solid names just melt into an abyss of inactivity, considering my 11+ years on this site. I don't necessarily believe in totally erasing accounts of those people. Perhaps a system that allows a user's account to remain active but frees pet names after 6 months? For example, say a new user creates a pet with a profane name. Admins have the ability to "reset" the name of the pet to something generic. In this case, the user's account would remain active the full year and the pet names can be recreated/refreshed after 6 months. Maybe offer cheap or free name changes to that specific pet if the user returns back here? Of course, the person should be notified prior to their pet's names clearing. Give them an opportunity to make a return or forfeit their names to those of use who spend thousands of dollars and keep Subeta running ([sub]I'm literally speaking here, I've spent thousands of USD on Subeta cough[/sub]).
But how much would it suck if you made a new account, played for a few days, and then life got in the way and you had to take a break for several months. Then when you come back, you find that your account has already been cleared with no warning.
I'd probably leave the site altogether at that point. Do we really want to chase new players away just because you want their pet names?

no support. find new names or stalk until the year is up. conjecture of an account being an illegal side should be left to staff. there's plenty the site does to cater to people who stay on it.
I don't really support this. Because as other people have been saying, sometimes people join a site and then life catches up to them. It wouldn't be very encouraging if they came back a few months later to see the site had cleared all their names. And it wouldn't be such a great message for the site to be sending out either: that new accounts aren't deserving of what they earned fairly.
No support. While I've stuck with subeta I've had times where I've made an account and rarely would log in. Mostly because I was tying to get the hang of playing but the site wasn't really engaging me. I'll end up coming back in a month or two to try the site again.
I play on a site that used to delete accounts after a month of inactivity unless you bought any cash shop item to flag it as a permanent account. Not just new accounts but also old accounts were targeted. I don't know how many people ended up just quitting after coming back and finding their account gone. Newbies were the most likely to never start again. There was enough complaining that the staff changed this to make all accounts permanent.

There would have to be an arbitrary cut off date. Its best to leave it as is. If you really want that pet name, you will still want it once the name is up for grabs.
i could support this. i see OP's point and i agree. it's different if you've been playing awhile, but if someone just makes an account and decides sb isn't for them then this could be a good idea. truthfully i wish accounts were still completely cleared after a couple of years anyway, but i realize that isn't going to happen.

I disagree. I logged in at first and didn't really see myself playing Subeta. I came back a little while later and here I am 7 years later playing Subeta. If that name you want was already cleared when a new user came we shouldn't clear their account just because you just thought of it and looked it up to find it on a new player's account.
I don't think that would be fair. A year is a short time to wait for an account to clear and it gives people the time to come back in a few months if they decide to. And, if anyone REALLY wants a name off that account /that/ badly, a year is not too long to wait if you're so attached. The anticipating isn't fun, but it's not fair to take away from others because of it. A few months of inactivity doesn't mean they aren't coming back, even if they've only played one day or week. I made my own account and left it empty for quite awhile before actually coming back and getting into it myself! :)
